First off, thanks to the Golds for a lovely latke party. Barry is one
epic cook and I probably ate far too many latkes but so it goes. :)
Anyway, among other things we sang the Dreidel sing with some rather
amusing new verses which I won't post because I don't know the
provenance but on the way home I was, um, inspired to come up with the
following:

I have a little dreidel, I made it out of ice,
As long as it stays frozen, it spins around quite nice.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of ice.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, it spins around quite nice.

I have a little dreidel, I made it out of string,
But now that it's unraveled, it doesn't do a thing.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of string.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, it doesn't do a thing.

I have myself a dreidel, I made it from a tree,
I'm having trouble spinning it; it's twice as tall as me!
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it from a tree.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, it's twice as tall as me!

Happy Hannukah, all!

I made myself a Golem, I made it out of clay
If you don't wash his forehead, he'll do the stuff you say.
Oh Golem, Golem, Golem, I made you out of clay
Oh Golem, Golem, Golem, with Golem I will play.

[Follow-up: A quick Google shows that I've failed Originality 101.
Fafblog and "As I Please" are among those who've beaten me, and with
better lyrics. That's life.]

Many thanks.

Latkes! It's been far too long.

I had a little dreidel, I made it out of gas.
But when I tried to spin it, it wafted off, alas.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of air.
Oh dreidel, deridel, dreidel, can't find it anywhere.

I can send you Barry's recipe, but unless you come out to West LA, he
won't cook them for you.

Now, if you want a dreidel, don't make it out of stone,
Or when you go to spin it, you just might break a bone.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, don't make it out of stone.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, it just might break a bone.

I have a little dreidel, I made it out of steel,
I'd like to use a magnet, but then I'd be a heel.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made it out of steel.
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I will not be a heel.

Aaaaand another one!

I live upon a dreidel, it's name is Planet Earth
With Gimmel marked on Baja, and Helb written on Perth
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, it's name is Planet Earth
Oh dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, and Helb written on Perth.

Helb? Is this a Perthian reference I've forgotten?

The traditional dreidel letters are Nun, Gimel, Heh, Shin
(out here in the diaspora anyway, and Perth would definitely qualify
as not-Israel).

No, I think it's a typo though not mine (obviously I picked the wrong
site to check.) (sigh) Shoulda been Heh. Actually any of the single
syllable ones would do. But I'm still not happy with this one so you
may see a new version of it. Meanwhile:

I drew a small eDreidel, released it on the net
It spun along to YouTube, and it is spinning yet
Oh Dreidel... etc.
