Free version of acclaimed Caldwell Viols app now available

Music Word Media announces the launch of a limited free version of Catharina Meints Caldwell's catalogue/memoir, The Caldwell Collection of Viols, in its highly-acclaimed iPad app edition.
The full version of the app, released in May, has been called "an extraordinary literary and musical accomplishment." It contains:
• A captivating memoir of the collection's 40-year history
• 217 photos, including full-page studies by Roger Mastroianni
• Over 70 minutes of music in 40 audio tracks
• Details of provenance, dimensions, and restoration history
• Technical descriptions by viol builder John Pringle
• Essays on the makers by Thomas G. MacCracken
• Extensive annotated bibliography and appendices by MacCracken
The free version presents a sampling of the Collection's 22 instruments in words, images and sounds, as well as download links to the full version ($17.99).
A lavishly-illustrated print edition (147pp., 2 audio CDs, $54.00, ISBN 9781937330064) was published in July.
