Looks like this group got slammed with spam. I'm sorry to see that.

I wonder if someone could help me? I vaguely remember that there is
some sort of reference book which is a thematic catalog of the works
of J.S. Bach.

I will continue to look on my own, but if you know of this book, could
you point me in that direction?

TIA

This thematic catalogue is called the Bach Werke Verzeichnis.
It exists in a complete (euro 173) edition and an abridged one (euro
39).
Prices according to http://www.amazon.de
I didn't check availability from other Amazons.
The URL for the abridged one is
http://www.amazon.de/Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis-Kleine-Ausgabe-Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis-BWV/dp/3765102490/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1262623662&sr=8-1

There is a Wikipedia article on the BWV. At the end, there is a link to
bachcentral.com, from which the BWV is available as a PDF file free of
charge. Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bach-Werke-Verzeichnis
