Talk about weird, Brian Mallard... does this remind you of our sidewalk
experience Saturday night, or what?

"...Dylan discovered what it's like to be just a face in the crowd. Police
were called in a quiet seaside town after he was spotted
freewheelin' down the street and apparently acting suspiciously. A
22-year-old female officer demanded to see his identification papers. He
assumed she would at least recognise the name if not the face. But she
ordered him into the back of her car...'Residents called to complain there
was an old scruffy man acting suspiciously,' said officer Spencer."

The rest of the thread, posted elsewhere, was also interesting:

Brian Mallard: lol, wow! that is familiar!

Will Dockery: Well, at least I did better than Dylan with Officer Peter... he accepted the issue of Playgrounds Magazine with my column as proper ID...

Brian Mallard: lol! that issue came in handy, who knows, he might even be a fan now.

Will Dockery: Well, Officer Peter did let us keep performing the song... or was he just waiting on the backup patrol car that arrived just as we finished the song, blue lights flashing?!?

Gini Woolfolk Davidson: Hooligans!

Brian Mallard: LOL! got a dollar?

Linda Cooper: Awesome story except why did you have to *show ID* just to be on the street? Don't like, but might understand the Dylan situation if it is in a Sandy looting zone...

Will Dockery: Brian Mallard was doing a sidewalk street busking thing and the cops are watching out for those guys, homeless folks flocking around them & begging for $$$ from what Mallard says. Apparently Officer Peter (named for his look alike, the "Family Guy" Peter... I kid you not!) thought I was one of these dastardly hobos...

Linda Cooper: Did you ask him if he could spare a dime?

Will Dockery: I showed him Fountain City Coffee down the street & invited Officer Peter to our World AIDS Day Concert 2012 we're having there December 1st. Glad the CSU cops got to know us a little better Saturday night though, really, so maybe they'll remember us next time we go out busking...
