Ole,

Why don't you remove my labels from your gallery?
Atlantic City Nov 19
Portsmouth Sept 24 & 25

Not only do you display them at your site without permission - and
against my posted notice to not do so - but you don't even acknowledge
where you took them from or the creator.

The Dylan community doesn't need another rip off label site. Do
something original.

get this -
a bootlegging bastard is complaining that another bootlegging bastard
ripped his pretty little labels off.
you dick.
do something original?
you have a lot of nerve.
why are dylan fans such dickheads sometimes?
i know, dylan fans are people too but you would think this sort of thing
wouldn't happen so much. shape up, shitheads! shape up or you won't have
me to kick around anymore!

Hi Richard,

Hey, this seems like a little bit of an over-reaction. The guy's only
trying to share a resource. He may not have even taken these particular
images from your site. Maybe they were forwarded to him with a trade and
he doesn't even know your site as the source. The Portsmouth shows were
tree'd recently and no doubt you own particularly excellent covers have
for these two sets have no doubt been bouncing around cyber-space quite a
bit of late with the majority of people having no idea who the creator is.

Personally, I think your covers are great (very unique) and I love the
backgrounds. Several now adorn jewel-cases in my collection. Only last
week I mailed someone a link to Anaheim - Early (the one with the Oranges
and the William Blake lithograph background). Isn't that what they are
there for?

And I disagree, the Dylan community does need more "rip off" label sites.
There are plenty of covers to "commercial" boots that can not be located
at the usual sites. Witness the frequent ISO posts on rmd. Hell, I do
them myself. And, when I can, I provide scans in response to these
postings from others. And when I do, I copy them to another recent
arrival on the "rip-off" label site scene because I think it might help
out the Dylan community in general to have as many covers as possible
available for easy down-load.

If these three are the only covers "taken" from your site by Ole, then he
clearly hasn't set about to plunder your work and call it his own. I
think you should lighten up on him a bit. If it was my cover site and I
got a private email from you explaining that these particular images were
your own creation, that you had your own site, that they were freely
available from that site and that you had a published request that they
not be displayed at other sites, then I would almost certainly defer to
your request. But if what I got was a public roasting on rmd accusing me
of ripping you off and belittling my efforts to create a shared resource
then I think I'd be pitching you the bird.

Otherwise, please keep up the good work! It is appreciated.

they were up on my site too, until I got a email from Richard and I took them
down at once. and indeed I remember i didn't get them from his site, but from
the sign-up site of the European Portsmouth tree and there was no notice not
to take those labels for other sites.
I visited Ole's site just a few hours after he published the link, noticed
Richard's cover and wrote an email to Ole at once telling him about these
covers.

I'd say it's a bit unfair...
