1. There is going to be a Tribute to Warren Zevon on Friday,
September 5, 2008 on the David Letterman Show.
2. You may hear Warren Zevon's music, followed by a 20 second bumper
about mesothelioma by his son Jordan, on the radio on Friday,
September 26, 2008, since that day is "Let's Rock" Meso Awareness Day"
featuring the music of the talented Warren Zevon. As you probably
know, were it not for mesothelioma, we would probably still have him
with us today. Mesothelioma is a cancer of the lining of the lungs,
abdomen and heart, which is related to asbestos exposure, for which
effective treatments are needed. If you would like to help contact
radio stations to participate in "Let's Rock" Meso Awareness Day, that
would be great. For tips on doing so, please go to http://www.curemeso.org.
By the way, some information you might find interesting is that
according to the U.S. Geological Survey, the U.S. imported and used an
estimated 1,820 tons of asbestos in 2007, an estimated 84% of which

Also, the U.S. House of Representatives is considering a bill to ban
the future importation and use of asbestos (it is already banned in 40
countries) and provide funding for medical research into effective
treatments for asbestos-related diseases. http://www.banasbestos.us A
ban is not enough since it doesn't help people who are already sick,
who have been exposed to asbestos and who will be exposed to asbestos.

Let me second Chris' thanks for this timely aviso.

Yes you've seen those postings based on Mr. Dylan's performing some of
Mr. Zevon's songs in concert. I'm not good with timelines, but i think
2002, a year before Warren's ride was here.
I'm guessing bob knew, & tributed him early, honouring a fellow
songSmith.
I'm not sure what all songs bob did; Mutineer, Boom Boom Mancini,
Accidentally Like a Martyr i'm pretty certain. Maybe someone around
here has more info.
Also, if i'm not mistaken, there's a tribute album; bob contributed a
concert track to that. Again, more exact info needed.

Speaking of which, last i looked, the entirety of Mr. Zevon's last
performance on Mr. Letterman's programme was available on U2B. I've
got it as mp4s if you're interested. If poignancy were defined as
beauty inseparable from pain, these clips wd be audiovisual proof.

yes, it was the fall of 2002, bob was doing van's carry a torch, the
stones, don henley and some great warren zevon. other than the ones
you mentioned he also did Lawyers Guns and Money. bob's mutineer was
wonderous. i saw him perform that the week i was in tampa and they
were having that Pirate Day, and bob had just started sportin that
moustach, ..lol...but he nailed mutineer perfectly.

oh gosh, no, i'd rather the army brat image than the baltimorehon
one...though i do have enough hair to do one of those hairdos.
and i don't even eat french fries, even though i'm half french, image
that ;-), but gravey fries really gross me out, along with those
chessy fries, or how about using mayonaise instead of ketsup. However
i do admit that if ya put me in front of a couple dozen steamed blue
crabs i'll be so baltimore it ain't funny...:-).

he talks about Mr. Zevon (if you recall, it was on that show where he used
the phrase "enjoy every sandwich").

Oh great. Thanks for reminding me. Whenever Bob plays Tombstone Blues,
he's making fun of me for running down the aisle when I was 23 and
leaping on stage, and experiencing hysterical blindness, and almost
climaxing at the speaker, and fainting, and being all goo goo and gah
gah over his butt, and getting so excited that i ripped up the tea bag
they gave me to experience his present, and then going to the airport
with my father who took me home to the coast and threw me into the
hospital.
