i do know Ms. Simone covered bobSongs (as well as those of other white

sounds about right to me, to my recollection. i know she recorded ISBR
as a duet with i think it was Miriam Makeba.

also of note is her renderings of Pirate Jenny, which bob mentions in
his First Chronicles. also her HotRS, the innernet states, predate
bob's & van ronk's.

of course in every instance she put her own stamp on a song, if not
even made it her own. (can't much tell i'm *huge* for nina.)

that said, if you or anyone else here has the citation from bob,
please advise. my captain down at the precinct is a stickler for
details.

i think it was her performance at Montreux '76 that had BSD jazzmen
jawdropped in the wings, mostly grateful they weren't following her.
if this video (of perhaps her most frivolous song) is indicative of
that performance, i wonder if there are any performers today who match
her intensity onstage. i wonder also what she could've done with
autotune.
