What attracts you to RMD? Habit? Curiosity? Boredom? Do you
contribute when you have something to say, or when you want someone
else to say something? Is it voyeuristic? Impersonal? Egocentric?
Do you hope to find news, information, setlists, anecdotes,
enlightenment, spiritual fulfillment? Sexual healing? Free CDs? Is
it a way of letting off steam or turning up the heat? Do you hope to
converse with familiar names, or anyone who's willing to listen or
take part? Are those familiar names 'friends'? Is RMD an alternative
to real life? What's the best thing about RMD - the rare insights?
The lists of album titles? The precious memories, wild rumors or the
petty bickering? For me, it's probably a little of all these things.
How about you?

I enjoy informed conversation about the music of Bob Dylan. I'm not a
musician myself, and appreciate it especially when musicians post. To me
the content of the post is important, not the identity of the poster---
except, of course, when it's you, Martin! :-)

Yes.

But mostly since i began treading these boards several years ago, i
find (most of the time, not all of the time) an affinity with people
who are innerested in "bob dylan".

& that's a diverse & divergent crew, if you'll notice both now, and if
you use google groups to dredge up the past.

something there is about us that i can't quite put my finger on.

Find this to be true both in onLine & offLine "real life".

Here, have a Pringle. I'm trying to convince them to produce an "Extra
Salt" flavour, to go with their malt vinegar variety.

I'm a frustrated music critic who would never be able to find anyone to
publish my writings.

I also like the community in rmd. I came here after Dylan Chat got
destroyed. I've made some very good friends in the Dylan internet
community. Acquiring and trading Dylan bootlegs has been a big part of
these friendships.

And I like a place where I can have a good religious or political argument.

Funny you should mention that, because I'm really quite pleased with
this chilli sauce I made at the weekend:

1 thinly diced onion
2 cloves diced garlic
Half a red pepper
Half a yellow pepper
Thinly sliced red chilli pepper

Fried for a few minutes in sunflower oil with added chilli powder,
some golden granulated sugar and extra chilli seasoning. Then add

Some chopped parsley
Chopped tomatoes
Mixed herbs
More parsley
More chilli powder

Stir for awhile longer, then transfer to a bowl and leave to cool.
Keep refridgerated. Add to practically anything! (except soup).
Great with Pringles(c)!

Why not soup? Sounds like it would pep up a tired old bowl of Campbell's
tomato.
Sounds like it'll be good with guacamole and torilla chips, too.

Oh, what brings me here?
The endless search for great new recipes.

Good question, Marty. I can't really remember why I first started
coming here. I think it's cos I don't know many Dylan fans and I
wanted to know what people thought of stuff like Lonesome Day Blues.
After that, it became a habit. And sometimes people like really real
and poisoned rose etc give me good ideas for making compilations that
break my listening habits. I enjoy a lot of the bickering, but I don't
like it when I answer posts in the wrong mood and get sucked into bad-
tempered arguments. So I'm trying not to do that.

In addition to thinking I'd find other people who liked Dylan, I
expected the people to share my views on most subjects of importance.
But we can't even agree on what subjects are important, and I wouldn't
have it any other way.

I don't think any subjects are important. Except Nashville Skyline
and Street Legal. Neither have any harmonica. WHY?

I can smile and LOL and think, yep, all of the above is why I come to

Well, for more reasons than could ever be transmitted . For one thing,
it's an interesting hang-out where at times one can practice playing
solitaire; and also get desensitization treatments free of charge.

All right, I admit they're not much to look at. But with loads of
salt, vinegar and tomato ketchup, plus glass of wine (white, sorry
pilgrim) and Nico's Janitor of Lunacy playing ... they're divine.
