I hope someone can help me. Earlier this year (or maybe last year) I was
in Houston a couple of times and heard a song on KILT FM that I haven't heard
anywhere else.

It is about a Southern sheriff or highway patrolman that goes to a murder
scene where an obviously abusive and drug addicted man pushed his wife too
far. The officer decides to make it look like the man committed suicide.
The chorus goes something like "don't judge me until you've walked a mile
in my shoes".

I hope someone can identify the song and singer/band for me.

Thanks,
Big Johnny

Never mind. The good folks at KILT came through. The song is called "Harder
Cards", and it's by Kenny Rogers. Apparently he hasn't released it on an
album yet, so it hasn't gotten any widespread play. But listen for it when
he does release his next album. It's definitely one of the best songs he's
ever done. Really hauntin song...

Remember next time to have to walk a mile in someone's shoes is that you'll
end up a mile away from them... and you'll have their shoes!!!!

It's also on Collin Raye's "Tracks" album. (Collin sings it, not Kenny!) The
song was actually serviced to radio about 8 months or so ago, supposedly
leading up to an album release the 2nd or 3rd week in June. I haven't heard
either the song on radio or anything about why the album wasn't released then
and when it might be. I've asked this newsgroup repeatedly for any information
about the album, but if anyone knows anything, they haven't said it.
