I've been trying to track down info on this guy Cowboy Jack Derrick.

He wrote/sang a song which has the first line

"When my truck drivin' man comes back to town..."

It sounds like a track from the late forties or early fifties

Any ideas?

Happy trails

yep:

it was released on king 633 in late 1946 or early 1947.

title was "truck drivin' man" and was unrelated to the later song written by
terry fell and popularized by fell and others in the 50s and 60s.

derrick released 8 or 10 78s on king, deluxe, and federal and disappeared
without a trace and without a hit. no recordings in the last 45 or 50 years.

"truck drivin' man" is a rockin' good tune you'll want your jockey to
play, so call him up and have him put it on the turntable. nevva mind that
the lyrics don't fit from a hetero viewpoint.

not sure if it has been reissued--i'd say it probably has, on an obscure
uk or european lp or cd.
