In the interest of trying to build up more of an Old-Time "community"
in the Goshen, IN area (north central IN), I've put together a blog and
a calendar using iWeb, iCal, and .Mac services. I'd be interested in
hearing others thoughts about this. I like the Sugar In The Gourd forum
and was inspired to do something locally, but not quite like a forum.

It looks great real old timey, and full of info. I've been keeping a
photo blog of the open mic I host for almost a year now. Folks seem to
enjoy it. I'll probably quit in August, but that will be a year's
archive. http://hasbeansopenmic.blogspot.com/

In the Delarware Valley, around Philadelphia, an old time list serve was
started which is part of <http://lists.topica.com/>. There are a few
who a rather far from this area (e.g. upper NY state and Tennessee) but
in general, it serves people ranging from NY City to Baltimore, but
mostly around Philadelphia. It serves us well.

Last night I listened to Fox Radio News out of Portland, Oregon, and
they reported that an ice cream truck driver in Goshen, Indiana got
arrested for drunk driving. I thought it odd, after reading the post
that day, to hear it in the west coast news.

It's true: http://www.etruth.com/news/NewsStory.aspx?id=374610

I found this quote from the story rather interesting:

"It was really a potentially dangerous situation," Dijkstra said.
"Don't drive drunk around children."

As compared too......?

Sounds like there's a wonderful "old-time" tune in this story
somewhere...

Thanks, Carl and Bob. Guess I'll see how long this pans out. A
"self-serve" listserv certainly sounds pretty low-maintenance!
