This came from Amy Davis and Jon Newlin:

Folks,

It looks like David finally has a new heart! Carol (David's mother) called
us last night with the news that David was getting prepped for the heart
transplant surgery. At that time, they didn't know whether the new heart
would be good or not, but this morning she thinks it must have been, since
they haven't brought him back from surgery yet. They started the procedure
at 2 am last night. This is the 7th transplant they have done at the
hospital in the last 3 days!
Please pass along the news to anyone interested.
Keep him in your thoughts and prayers,
Amy & Jon

From what I heard, he was out of surgery at 11am, with everything going well
and the heart pumping nicely...

Great news, indeed! Ironically, I was driving by the hospital Tuesday
afternoon and nearly stopped in, but didn't since I was expected at my
aunt's house...

I am glad to report that Dave is back up and running !!!
He has always amazed me and when I got this email today I nearly fell out of my
chair.
Here's how things are going according to Dave......

"I was transplanted with a very good late model heart
on Oct. 31. I've been out in the world for about a
week. Yesterday the three of us went to Chapel Hill
and did some busking and made some bucks. I feel very
much alive. I take pills for the holes left by the
heart machine (very nasty) but I'm getting around and
the hospital blues have shaken right off with no
residual trauma."
