A rarity that every serious American Music collector and enthusiast
will want for his or her LP collection. Randall
Thompson, eminent composer and pedagogue, is recognized as one of the
finest composers of American choral music in the Americana genre.
Commissioned in 1936 by the League of Composers, "The Peaceable
Kingdom", was inspired by the painting of the same name by the
naturalist Edward
Hicks (1780-1849). Performed by the renowned Whikehart Chorale (Lewis
E. Whikehart, cond.) on a Lyrichord recording from the early sixties.
