AFP interview with Gottfried Wagner: 'I saw him as a threat'
|
| |
Fascinating interview. Gottfried Wagner, the rebellious great-
grandson, said in his 1977 autobiography that 27 rolls of private home
movies of Hitler and the Wagner family are still under lock and key.
Have they ever been released?

Early Tocanini vs. Late Toscanini
|
| |
Agree/disagree with Haggin's description?:
Early T.(NY Philharmonic years) = Relaxed, expansive, articulating and
organizing and shaping the substance of a piece with much elasticity
of tempo, and molding the phrase with a great deal of sharp
inflection,

Cádiz (Chueca) on Deutsche Grammophon CD

New Janet Baker reissue - excellent news
|
| |

"I'll ignore Classical Music, Alex."
|
| |
Last night "Jeopardy!" had one its rare appearances of the Classical Music category. (Opera is a similar rarity.) I could understand someone never having heard of Domenico Scarlatti, but was flabbergasted that none of the contestants had heard of the "New World" symphony. (At least the guy who got... more »

Bernstein's two Mahler Symphonies sets on DGG
|
| |
Dear friends:
Are the two Bernstein DGG Mahler Symphonies sets, the one on DVD and the
one on CD, taken from the same performances?
If the answer is "no" which set was recorded later, and which one has the
best recorded sound?
Thanks a lot again. -- Enviado desde mi iPad usando NewsTap, Juan I. Cahis, Santiago de Chile.... more »
