Great box. Already own it.
A similar set is the Marcell Meyer box http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B000KRMWLS
A large part of both of these sets were drawn from the catalog of Les
Discophiles Français, the rights to which belong to EMI (and now
Universal).
Sad that EMI France stopped issuing these sets. I really was hoping
they would get around to a box with the Les Discophiles Français
recordings of Marie-Claire Alain, which includes 14 LPs of Bach organ
music form the mid 1950s.
There are also a whole host of recordings in those vaults featuring
the conducting of Karl Ristenpart in early music (Bach and Handel most
notably). I think the Alain legacy with Les Discophiles Français
includes Handel organ concteros with Ristenpart.
Maybe our friend with United Archives could ventrue down that road.

Very good, Mr. Tepper. I believe they are the work of veteran engineer
Philippe Morin, who did a lot of work on the Andante series. Not the
work of Abbey Road Studios, at any rate.

I'm not sure how much upside potential there is in remastering these
recordings. Most were recorded in EMI France in the early 1950's.
They are quite listenable but far from hi-fi. I own the original-
issue EMI Beethoven and Schumann sets. They sound like straight tape
transfers with minimal intervention, which is fine by me.

I think most of the recordings were made by Les Discophiles Français,
not EMI.
EMI owns the rights to the Les Discophiles Français catalog now.

When you say DHL, is it coming from Canada? Maybe it's coming from
some other AZ location. It says it's still "out of stock" on the

It went into DHL's system in Hamilton ON on the 25th, wandered
off to Cincinnati on the 26th, then to something called "New York

it seems. There are something like a dozen new and used CDs or sets
out there on their way to me, some trackable, some not. A lot of mail
gets stuck for days or weeks in a dysfunctional sorting center in Jersey

Sadly, no, and the last big box for a single pianist from EMI France
was in 2010. We never did get that coffret intégral de Cortot. :-/

quality in the complete Nat set than the
earlier 4 CD Schumann set, sometimes much
better, as in less muffling (Noise Reduction
is evil). Then again I am easily fooled.

Yes and no, Meyer I have long had, now Nat, that's fine.
To me, the other three are of no interest .
I WANT CORTOT (flops down and drums heels
