Does anyone know if the CD transfer of a 1952 recording of Haydn's Seasons on the ARS label is a bootleg transfer of the DG LPs or an authorized copy of the same or a contemporaneous concert performance transcription?

It is not the DG recording (a live production made in 1961) since the soloists are not the same. The bass is the same for both, Josef Greindl. But the DG recording tenor is Ernst Haefliger and the soprano is Maria Stader.

I am wrong though. I was not aware there was a studio recordings with Fricsay from 1952. So it is not the same Season as DG has put on CD a few times, but it could well be what you suggest, an LP transfer.

The 1961 recording is a fave of mine, and not just a Haydn fave. I'd be curious to hear this sometime, and to know, like you, its origins.
