OK. For those who aren't around SymphonyShare, here is another offering to
the group.

We have here Boulez conducting a powerful and exciting Beethoven's 9th with
the NY Phil. I recorded this off the air in October 1975.
Soloists: Joanna Meier, Betty Allen, Jerry Jennings, Simon Estes.

The sound is only mono but I think it is good enough. I hope there are no
glitches. I only spot checked this time. The soloists are
good except that poor Simon Estes wasn't really at his best. I saw Joanna
Meier sing Sieglinde once and she was unforgetable. But who the heck was
Jerry Jennings?

Anyway, since it's mono the file size is small enough that I've been able to
save everybody a couple of steps by uploaded entire movements rather than a
series of archive chips.

There should be five flac files, one for each movement and one for the
applause/announcer.

Again, please advise if there are any errors.

I just listened to this today. Very impressive, the 4th mov't in
particular has real impact.
Simon Estes didn't seem too bad to my ears. Boulez seems to follow
Klemperer regarding
repeats, none in the first movement, but most, if not all in the
scherzo.

Many thanks for sharing this.

I'm so glad you liked it, Paul.

I must say that I was somewhat surprised at how little repsonse I got to
this particular offering.

Anyway, yes, the fourth movement - I can still remember starting to just
sing and sing along to it at the time. Over 30 years ago!

Hi Nigel,

Yes, I'm working on that right now. Also on the same broadcast was
Schoenberg's Five Pieces for Orchestra and Schubert's 9th. I've already
uploaded the Schubert to Mediafire. Did you get that?

I have some Varese and then I think that's about it.
