Weissenberg Debussy CD on Sony/BMG

Just found this CD in Toronto.
Looks every bit what we wanted.
BUT, do the good people at Sony realize that they have put a full page photo of, wait for it, Raymond Lewenthal!!!, inside the booklet?
Ironic, as AW couldn't ever be mistaken for RL at tge piano. Or in a photo. Too much hair.

Well, Miguel, it has to be said that EMI does not OWN the Columbia/Sony repertoire, or the repertoire contained on those long lost French monaural LPs either. They have certainly reissued most if not all of AW's recordings on CD at one time or another.

�Weissenberg � Ses Enregistrements Studio, 1964-1984�.
I�m still waiting for the aforementioned sonnet, three
Beethoven sonatas (#8, 14 & 23), three Haydn sonatas
(Hob.XVI: 20, 37 & 52), Schumann�s Carnaval and �tudes
symphoniques, and 15 Lieder by Strauss (w/ Caball�).

You will have to be.
The reissue programme at EMI France will likely lose soon the only
individual who knows or cares about any of these recordings. It will
be taken over by Warner, who may sell it to Naxos, who already have
too much stuff to sell as it is.
I must say, Miguel, as one who owns so very many Lps, it is not
crucial that all of them appear on CD. Nor, I think, is it absolutely
necessary for all books to be available at all times to all people.
Time moves on.
Frankly I would rather see Sony concentrate on John Ogdon for a minute
or two. There are a few things there which could benefit from a second
life. Not everything, but a few.
We have to be reasonable as well as patient, Miguel.
