Friends,

Would it be possible to make the a and m fingers as strong as the i finger? Possible but somehow not desirable? And so on.

How do you know they are weaker?

Don't use the gripmaster. I've heard of too many cases of something in
the hand going 'pop,' and then the person is not able to play for ten years.

I'm affraid finger strength may not help you and could cause side
effect problems. It doesn't take a lot of strength for for RH or LH
fingers to play. Precision I think is far more important to help one
advancing in playing.

Look how much strength these fingers have:

By the way, did she miss the first half of the Preludio or I'm
dreaming?

This may look creepy for some!

I'm sure yo can find more examples that finger strength is not a
requirement to play CG well.
Cheers,

John

Strength has very little to do with playing well.

+1.

The necessary level of finger/hand strength is easily acquired just by
playing and well within the reach of any adult without additional
finger- or hand-specific strength training.

There are, btw, all kinds of examples of pianists trying to make all the
fingers equally strong and equally mobile. The result of such efforts
is usually disasterous.

That is a serious question. Because of the index's connection
to the thumb, its strength varies with the direction of the
force. Regards, daveA
