Speed or slowness in musical playing are the reflex of our temperament and
of our mental dynamism; but comfidence, strenght, independence and
expressive touch being suceptible developpement through assiduous practice
of exercices conceived for that goal, the player must care for these
qualities to transmit them to the strings, with the help of his fingers,
with the same ease as words come to the lips through the simple process of
thinking and volition.

Nice quote. The sentiments are true. The assiduous part eludes me: I'm an
amateur. Why do classical guitarists think that they have to all be world
class musicians? Get rid of that notion and we'd all just play! All of us
pretty damn well, too.

Well I guess that an amateur by definition is not assiduous at all time,
thus the categorization of amateur. But as an amateur, I think I must have a
sensible connection to this never ending assiduous mode to get at least to a
somewhere minimum on the musical spectrum.
