On one level, it's a retelling of our old stories and myths and it had
a new age slant that was appealing to audiences. On another, it was a
stunning technical achievement. It was the first time that computers
were used to control the movement of movie cameras. I can't say if
that's still being done much today. Back in the day, SF was pretty
much a B-film genre. SW changed all that and made it possible to tell
a story in a very expensive, overblown, way.
