Something about this group disturbs me. It disturbs me a great deal. We all know what it is. But we sweep it under the rug.
I'm talking about sexism. Sexism in this very group. Where are the women??? I mean, is it acceptable to have only one woman (thomas) in the discussion? What about inclusivity? What about equality? What about the Other? Are we so frightened of the Other that we need to wage war against her? What's happened to us?

This is a group about guitar playing.... Not about cooking and cleaning!!! :)
Okay - that was uncalled for.... Just a joke, just a joke.. If you haven't gotten it, I'm VERY sarcastic...
If you want girls, head over to the American Idol NG.... There's more than you can handle in there. Yes, I frequent both :)

You're sniffing up the wrong tree. You're looking for a 7-11 in the middle of a rainforest. Check out a different newsgroup. Be proactive - don't wait for the chicks to come to you! I can appreciate your persistence but you gave Lady Anna ample time to get here. Time to move on.
Try an artsy-crafty newsgroup like pottery or jelly-making or bondage-abuse or whatever the hell it is that females like. Be wary, the females you might find on Usenet are kind of nutty and on the mature side which means that you should be able to find the girl U want.

The problems with elephants is that they can blind you ... if you know the parable you'll understand that they are hard to describe!

Being in a room with an elephant totally sucks. I had a bad experience when the elephant in the room went nuts at a circus. I found out that in times like that, my spidey sense kicks in and I won't bother hanging around to see "what develops" or if the situation improves. Heading out the door at the first sign of trouble is one of my best traits.

Tough one. Few girls play guitar. Those that do are always vastly outnumbered by guys, so they probably have busier than average social lives. Also, girls usually don't care much about rest strokes, so that would eliminate half of the reason to be here.

Me, my lamentations go to the fact that the only elephant I've seen was as the zoo ... it's so sad ... all the other elephant I've seen where in these discovery channel documentaries on elephants in Africa, India, China ... I love these documentaries but, unfortunately, they can never replace a true, real, gigantic, ear flapping freaking elephant drinking and showering with his ... (Blank! I have an English blank!!! I know the word in French ... heu une trompe d'éléphant ... but in English??? Blank!
I'm sure someone will help me here! ... heu ...please ... can someone ...)

That thing at you're referring to is called "the terrifying death trumpet of doom." Hopefully, I'll never hear one of those again.
"Oh, yeah. Oooh, ahhh, that's how it always starts. Then later there's running and screaming."

Perhaps they are put off by troglodytes clamoring for the return of the Spanish Inquisition!

Good question, but perhaps this will help: I was listening to some Parkening the other day. I do think he has just about my favorite sound quality of any guitarist.
