I managed to watch a film of this Nov 2011 performance. It was
interesting to see that it was the Europa version from the early 70s
rather than the restructured 1998 one. It was great all round - for
example a pair of real ol' fashioned Hammond organs (rather than
synths as I'd been expecting) and surtitles to help the audience. The
players were steeply raked just like the photos from the 1970s, with
the soloist towering over everybody at the top.

In the opening movement the soloist held her mike in her hands, like
she was Shirley Bassey. Eotvos was a bundle of energy literally
running on stage in the final bit of the procession, and charmingly
getting the audience to join in the applause at the end of the first
part.

The chorus groups were a marvel. No self-consciousness with shuffling
their feet, playing instruments and all the other things they're told
to do.

Maybe there wasn't the final frission of energy in the big chorus
(forgotten the name, is it M(m)? the one used in Mikrophonie 2) but
overall this performane was very moving to watch. I wish I had been
there.

I wasn't there but hear the audience raved about it both nights. It
proves that Ivor (Ludovicus) Morgan is needlessly pessimistic about
the future of KS's music when such large enterprises can be mounted
with great public acclaim.

And still to come this year are Inori in Paris and Gruppen in NY
