In collaboration with Archiv Music Sony has just reissued the first recording of Luciano Berio’s Sinfonia, the original 4-movement version, which was recorded by Columbia records on October 12, 1968, immediately after the world première with the same forces. Because RCA and Sony are now part of a single corporate entity, they have been able to include Berio’s RCA recordings of Nones, Allelujah II, and the Concerto for 2 pianos within the same release. Archiv and Sony are claiming that this is the first digital reissue of the RCA recordings. In fact, they were previously reissued on CD in Japan by Japanese RCA/BMG in collaboration with Japanese Tower Records. (Needless to say, the Japanese release is long gone along with Japanese RCA/BMG.)
