Hi,
I checked my TV magazine: Arte France will broadcast "Michaels Reise"
on Monday August 10th, as well as a 52-mn documentary on Stockhausen
by Norbert Busé and Thomas von Steinaecker, "Musik für eine neue
Welt" (2008).
I'll record both of them. Then, I'll try to figure out the best way to
upload them somewhere for those who were not able to record them.
Best regards.

Maybe Alex is reading this ? He's always got good ideas about
technical matters, and he likes Stockhausen as much as the next man
(maybe even more..)

Hi,

Although I recorded last evening the documentary about Stockhausen,
and "Michaels Reise", and will soon try, as promised, to upload them
somewhere on the Internet, I inform you that "Michaels Reise" is
available during a week on Arte's website at:

http://plus7.arte.tv/fr/1697660,CmC=2786350,scheduleId=2759086.html

Some moments are simply breathtakingly beautiful. How lucky are those
who attended the live performance!

The documentary about Stockhausen before "Michaels Reise" is quite
interesting, with a couple a archive films I have never seen, and
interviews of Doris Stockhausen, Mary Bauermeister (IMO a little self-
satisfied: "Karlheinz did this because of me... He evolved because of
what I said...etc.), and strangely of Simon Stockhausen.
BUT the strangest thing in this documentary is that it seems to be
only a part 1 (but it isn't, as far as I know), since the Stockhausen
story ends up around... 1975!
"Sirius" is simply quoted, and something like: "during the next 25
years, Stockhausen worked on LICHT" is said, but that's all!' Not a
single part of LICHT is mentionned, nothing about the creation of the
Stockhausen Verlag, about formula composition, about the summer
courses, not talking of KLANG, etc. And we don't see neither Suzanne
Stephens nor Kathinka Pasveer (their names are not even mentionned)...
Unbelievable, isn't? The last 30 years of Stockhausen's works are
totally ignored.
Does this mean that Suzanne and Kathinka refused to be part of the
documentary, and didn't give authorization to the film directors to
have access to anything belonging to the Stockhausen-Verlag? I can't
say, but it seems so. I'd be curious to know why.

Best regards.

I double-checked the link. And it works. Try with another browser
perhaps?

Are you sure it's available outside France?

I get a message in French and German saying that for reasons of
copyright the video cannot be viewed in my country. I'm in the UK.

Yes, now, I recall this happened before with another video on Arte...
Too bad.
So as I said, I'll do some editing first, and try to upload the film
somewhere where it will be available for anyone to download it. I'll
send a post when it's ready.

Best regards.

BTW, had anybody heard the latest Klang piece - Paradies for flute
(+three CP tracks) which was premiered in Hamburg recently?

Hi Jerry,

The YouTube 5-part post Mark is refering to is not "Paradies" but the
Arte "Michael's Reise" broadcast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?

All the best.

Jerry, sorry to have got your hopes up with that non sequitur !
I'd forgotten I'd even posted that question couple of weeks
previously.

I watched some of M.Reise which I thought looked very dated, like some
1980s pop video.

For those who haven't yet seen - there's a new forum (moderated by
