When Tom died in 1994, wasn't he living in Botafogo? Can anyone say,
specifically or generally, where is home is/was?

Gerry,
His house was in Jardim Botânico. In Helena Jobim's book "O Homem
Iluminado" she mentions the street name and how he picked the house,
but I do not have my copy of the book with me and I'll own you a more
detailed info.

Picked the land rather than the house, since the house was custom-
built. The location at the top of Jardim Botânico was chosen for being
high, airy, and sunny, with a commanding vista of Ipanema beach, Lagoa
Rodrigo de Freitas, Corcovado, and Pão de Açucar.

It's a large, modern, 3-story house. Jobim's studio occupied the top
floor. The house took four years to complete. Tom and Ana lived in a
rented house on Rua Peri (also in Jardim Botânico) from 1978 until
1984.
