It's a pretty crappy film, IMO, but it was way ahead
of it's time like Rev no 9. Wasn't this released
about 3 years ago?

I think I know that you don't like it at all.
This is a new release. It's still on pre-order on Amazon.
I held it yesterday.
Why you disregard part of Beatle history I will never know.

You did? I only recall mentioning "Pepper"

Really? Is there footage on it that wasn't before?

I'm not disregarding it. I've seen it before, maybe
2 times since it was first released. The only movie
I liked was "Let It Be."

And what before am I supposed to be looking at? First time on bluray
and DVD restored. There are a number of interesting extras. It should
have included the All You Need Is Love video.

I have no idea. The movie has never made sense to me.
I might like it if it did.

 First time on bluray
> and DVD restored.  There are a number of interesting extras.  It should

Does it have Penny Lane on it, or Strawberry Fields?
It would be worth it if it had these 2 videos.

I just assumed it was already released. I'll be happy if
they include extra footage on "Let It Be." Then they
could release the soundtrack separate. We have to
wait for the Elvis camp to release something new
first.

This is straight from the Amazon page on it.
Pity they didn't include more from 1967.
I think they first asked Paul, or thought of asking him, for something
for the movie,
Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush.

History

In September 1967 The Beatles embarked on making their third film, this
time conceived and directed by themselves.
Based on a loose unscripted narrative, in the spirit of the experimental
mood of the time, and directed by The Beatles themselves, the film
became the vehicle to present 6 new songs - Magical Mystery Tour, The
Fool On The Hill, Flying, I Am The Walrus, Blue Jay Way and Your Mother
Should Know.

Now, 45 years on, the virtually forgotten film has been fully restored
and is being presented properly for the first time.

The restoration of Magical Mystery Tour has been overseen by Paul Rutan
Jr. of Eque Inc., the same company that handled the much acclaimed
restoration of Yellow Submarine. The soundtrack work was done at Abbey
Road Studios by Giles Martin and Sam Okell.

All of the packages contain a host of special features, packed with
unseen footage. There are newly-filmed interviews with Paul McCartney,
Ringo Starr, and other members of the film's cast and crew, as well as a
director's audio commentary recorded by Paul.

LSD intrigued me as a kid. As a 'song' it just doesn't do much for me
anymore. I like most of George's contributions, but the Indian
influenced songs aren't as preferable as say, Old Brown Shoe.

As an album, I place SP lower than Revolver and Rubber Soul both. Just
my preference, subject to change at a moments notice, but unlikely to
today.

"Lucy" is OK. It just doesn't reach out and grab me like some of John's
other stuff. But on that album, "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" and
"Good Morning Good Morning" are worse than "Lucy" (I know I have a minority
opinion on this).

Same here, although my preference is extremely unlikely to change. The only
two "grabbers" in my estimation on "Pepper's" are "A Day in the Life" and,
yes, "With a Little Help from My Friends". "Getting Better" and "She's
Leaving Home" aren't half bad, nor is "Within You Without You" if I'm in the
proper mood.

I can only remember 4 albums that knocked me out from
start to finish: Rubber Soul, (I didn't even hear it until 1972)
The White Album, Abbey Road, and Harrison's Living in
the material world. I actually played all their albums
non stop, and I should include Revolver. The only
thing I didn't like, was/is the way Taxman was recorded.
That tambourine is corny, and louder than the drums, that
come out of only one speaker. I prefer the live version
of Taxman because the drumming was mixed and played
right.

The best of the Raspberries and Turtles knocked me
out too as well as the Guess who. Wrong newsgroup
for those though.

I just forgot to list it. I like "Kite" but have to be in the right

I never said anything about liking the 70's music over the 60's.
Maybe you got that idea from me posting in that 60's group?
Sure, I said some things over there because it's like the
music they mostly like has that 50's sound to it, and it's
about all they talk about. My point to them was to check
out other types of music from the 60's onward, and they
might like something different to go along with what they
already like, and they might even find music beyond
the 60's, that sounds like 50's music, only it would be
something they've never heard before.

I don't understand your question.

I do not like Lucy. Or Pepper (much of it anyway). Or MMT. In fact, I do
not care for much of the 1967 output because most of it is substandard
Beatle fare.

Revolver is top notch as is Rubber Soul, the White Album, AHDN. Those
are my favourites.

Sam Champion.

No but I've just watched this and it's quite excelent (I actually found it
better than the movie itself):

Er I meant to say Part I, the making of MMT documentary. Part II is the
actual film and I haven't watched it yet.

I've watched the extras. The doco and sundry talking bits. I liked the
Ivor Cutler song. I'm puzzled by the inclusion of the "Traffic" film clip.

And the TOTP clip of "Hello Goodbye". I assumed it was going to be one
of the three versions filmed at the Saville Theatre. But it's black and
white, with a lot of attention focused on four young people - two guys
two girls - who I don't recognise. Were they TOTP presenters? The film
clip I assume is a surviving film insert from a now-missing episode.
