You know that many well-known people have Facebook pages and you can
be "friends" with them but more often than not you'll never hear from
them except when they're pushing a show or a book or whatever and then
it's a general announcement to all their "friends".
so I think it's pretty cool that Bill Harry answers questions and
responds to comments on his page. He's planning a Liverpool archive
that sounds fascinating, with stuff from all the groups, not just the
Beatles.
Anyway, I asked him about the famous cover of Mersey Beat, "Beatles
Win Poll", that had Paul's name spelled "McArtrey". That's how John
spelled it in the "man on a flaming pie" story. I asked Bill if there
was a connection and he said yes, he used John's spelling
because...well, here's what he said: "I knew Paul's surname, but was
unsure of the spelling at the time. At the time John obviously knew
Paul longer than me and he was unsure of the spelling."
I appreciate Bill taking the time to answer this sort of thing.

Indeed.
I don't belong to the Cult Of Facebook, so perhaps you could ask him if
he has ever considered republishing the 1977 book "Mersey Beat : The
Beginnings of The Beatles".
It's a great selection of reprints from the newspaper he produced,

Bill is a very cool, and nice, guy. Did a nice review of my book 30
years ago, and included it in a book he did about Beatles books(I
think it was called "Paperback Writer")
"The Mersey Beat book I have been working on is far more interesting,
full of colour and at least twice as large, although I still have to
find a publisher."
