On June 17 1965, Normal played a song for J&P that he had written.
They were a song short, and they considered recording it the next day.
Dick James offered him £15,000 for the song, but they opted not to
record it and did 'Yellow Submarine' instead... but what was the song?
Did it ever see the light of day later on in his Hurricane Smith days?

I read somewhere that Norman forgot about it and has been kicking
himself ever since.

Yellow Submarine was 1966. I think the Smith song was offered for the
Help! LP.

D'oh! I meant 'Act Naturally'.

The story on the day after they heard the song was that they hadn't
recorded a Ringo song for the album yet, and Normal's song was
apparently un-Ringoish -- I assume the melody was more than an octave.

I've read this story also, but I've always assumed that John & Paul
didn't want to use Smith's song and that they were just being polite.
