Borders and Capitol Records Celebrate the Life of Linda McCartney With
Auction of Signed Items 05:36 a.m. Apr 06, 1999 Eastern ANN ARBOR, Mich.,
April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Nearly one year ago (April 17), Linda McCartney lost
her battle with breast cancer. Yet, her fight against the disease lives on
through a unique program sponsored by Borders and Capitol Records to auction
rare lithographs and CDs signed by Linda and husband Paul. Auction proceeds
will benefit organizations dedicated to battling breast cancer.

Two Borders Books, Music, Video and Cafe stores -- Santa Monica and the Kips
Bay location in New York -- will each host a two-week silent auction of a
limited edition lithograph of art work from Paul McCartney's latest CD,
"Flaming Pie." Each numbered lithograph is signed by both Linda and Paul
McCartney. In addition, each store will auction a copy of Linda's 1998 CD,
"Wide Prairie," signed by Paul McCartney. Bidding starts in the stores April
15 and concludes April 29. Proceeds from the sale of the items in the Santa
Monica store will benefit the UCLA's Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation, while
the Borders Kips Bay store has selected Gilda's Club in New York to receive
funds raised via the auction.

Borders.com (http://www.borders.com), the retailer's award-winning online
shopping site, will offer three signed and numbered "Flaming Pie" lithographs
for an online auction which will be held the last week in April. Funds raised
through Borders.com will benefit the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC)
(http://www.natlbcc.org), a grassroots organization with more than 60,000
members.

"This collaboration with Borders.com will help us move closer to our goal of
eradicating breast cancer," said Fran Visco, NBCC's president and a breast
cancer survivor. "Utilizing the Internet and highlighting the loss of Linda
McCartney to breast cancer sends the message that the disease is an issue for
all women, their families and friends. By partnering with our organization,
Borders.com joins us in telling the public that we can make a difference in
conquering this disease."

In addition to the silent auctions, Borders.com and all Borders stores will
celebrate the life of Linda McCartney throughout the month of April with
special book features, including:

* "Wide Open," a just-released, 100-page photo edition with 28 images that
capture the essence of Linda McCartney's photographic style and talent.

* "Linda McCartney's Sixties," a bestselling personal album capturing rock
legends at work and play during the 1960s.

* "Linda's Kitchen," a blueprint for the vegetarian way of life including over
200 delicious recipes that are simple to prepare, and

* "Linda McCartney on Tour," a collection of 200 meat-free dishes from around
the world.

Throughout April, Borders stores and Borders.com will also offer the "Wide
Prairie" CD at a special discount. And, in all Borders stores, Borders Cafe
Espresso(TM) will feature herbal tea drinks named in Linda McCartney's honor.

HI all,
A while back I won a limeted edition lithograph (now up for auction
via Borders.com), and I was sent a letter from EMI Canada telling me
it was autographed by Paul and Linda. However, it seems to me, that
it is not a hand writtten signature...perhaps done by machine. Does
anyone have any info on this. By the way the number on it is 0435.

Any help on this would be truly wonderful!
Thanx!
Scott Dewart
