Reminds me of a story that my brother told me when
him and our drummer friend went into a bar to hear
a band perform. He said the band was very good
but they held nothing back on the first set, and used
up all their guitar chops. Nothing to look forward to
for the rest of the evening. They blew their wad in
in the first set. This girl is impressive but what else
is there to forward to? She's also copying Van Halen's
30 year old style. That minute and a half was enough
for me.

technical expertise at that age gives her time to develop her own
style that she could lend some feeling to.

I think that says it all, develop expertise first before style.
I'm left handed but I would play guitar right handed hence it never
works properly. Drums can just be reversed around, I do play those left
handed. Coordination has to go by your handedness, main time keeper the
main hand. Back beat with the main foot.

That's certainly possible...just as somebody the same age with no
instrumental skills but some musical imagination has time to develop
their own style. I'd just stick with #2, myself.

Whether technical proficiency comes first or last, nothing can replace
musicality. This wasn't musical to my ears - it's not something I want
to hear that will increase my appreciation of our human life, and
that's all I ask of any music. Now if she was presented to me as a
gymnast, I'd give her an 8.5.

What we need is good songwriters who can write a decent
melody. This is noise to my ears, about the same as banging
two trash can lids together. I don't care if she plays 2 billion
notes a minute. It's not music.

music that I enjoy. And there is stuff that many would consider
"noise" that I enjoy as music, too.

She's genius...bloody well clever..I could probably handle it after like two weeks of going for it..the low action and light strings and heavy effects kind of help..but there's no denying that is pretty clever stuff...

Danny, I have a challenge for you: This video of this girl
playing is about a minute and 35 seconds long. If you slowed
down all of the notes she is playing, you can sing every note,
and we could hear a melody. Just maybe not very melodic.

I only just watched it. It's just heavy metal guitar. As long as it
keeps her off the streets and some people like it I don't really care
but I wouldn't listen to it.
It's when they add a solid rhythm section to it like in 80s metal that
it sounds like shit.
