I just watched the *survivor guy* on the Discovery Channel eat *raw,
fresh, warm sheep heart...he had just gutted the sheep. Bit right into
the bloody heart.

Mmmm...!

I believe that's the same dude I watched drink his own urine. I'm
laughing at the fact that I included the words "his own" You guys can
take it from here. Great title in the subject line. I love it! K9

No, that was Bear Grylls from Man vs Wild. Both interesting shows.
Having done wilderness training as a BoyScout Master with Army Rangers
This is basic stuff.

As I have posted before, check out Bizzare Foods on the travel channel
This guy plucked the heart from a live tuna and ate it. I`ve done
that one too. He eats just about anything, as will I, every chance I
get.

PETA should switch to starving orphans as a cause.

No they shouldn't. What a weak criticism that is... while you people

Ok now Crisstti, you used the phrase "you people" & included my post. I
merely commented on a TV show that I saw and that I thought the original
poster's play on words was funny [ & witty ] I'm all for animal rights.
However I think PETA goes a bit too far with SOME of their ideas. About
12 years ago I was ready to go total veggie. I even ordered a $300.00
juicer. Three days after it arrived I finally discovered the root cause
of my illness & the main way of treating it [ besides certain
supplements ] was to adopt the caveman diet. Also known as the
paleolethic diet, or the hunter-gatherer diet. I don't even hunt & that
makes me a minority where I live. Hell, I don't even fish. The other
person who posted was informing me that I had two television hosts mixed
up. He also said he was a scout & an Army Ranger. Which means he has to
know how to survive in dire situations. Don't you think that when it
comes down to a human being dying of starvation or eating an animal that
the human life is more important? You're not going to tell me that you
don't support our troops are you? Like I said, I'm all for animal
rights. However if I was stuck in the middle of nowhere starving & there
were no plants to eat or my body needed protein to survive I would kill
[ as humanly as possible ] the first creature that hopped, crawled, or
swam by & I would eat it. It would gross me out quite a bit but I'd do
it to LIVE. Wouldn't you? It's been the way of the world since the
beginning. The circle of life. I know attitudes are changing but also we
don't live like people did many years ago. We don't see the slaughtering
when we go to a fast food drive-thru or sit down in a restaurant for a
steak dinner. People in the country lived different. Some people still
do! The man would go out to the henhouse with a hatchet & the woman [ &
maybe the children ] would pluck, clean, & cook it. If they didn't
they'd starve. Even human death is different now. In the old days houses
had a room called the parlor. That's where we put grandpa for a couple
of days when he died. Now we're removed from that too. Many animals eat
other animals you know, some even eat their own. I've never killed or
harmed anything larger than a mouse & I didn't like doing that. If I
could have captured these critters & set them free outside of my house I
would have. So I ask you respectively....please don't link me into this.

OK, I'm sorry I included you. Actually, I'm not quite sure of the
intension of the original post... however, I will keep my comment as
far as Phred is concered, at least.

I still think it's not something to make fun of.

> However I think PETA goes a bit too far with SOME of their ideas.

A lot of people in the animal rights movement don't like them either,
but probably for different reasons.

Whith which of their ideas you think they go too far?.

I've hears some people before say that because of some health issue
they can't be vegetarian. They never mention which health issue
though. Except someone who told me she was allergic to soy... which
doesn't seem like a good enough reason.

I don't even hunt & that

The person who posted this was Lookingglass.

He also said he was a scout & an Army Ranger. Which means he has to
> know how to survive in dire situations.

He said "(...) wilderness training as a BoyScout Master with Army
Rangers (...)". Not sure what that is, but it seem to be just one
thing.

And I don't think it justifies it at all.

Don't you think that when it
> comes down to a human being dying of starvation or eating an animal that
> the human life is more important?

Arguable, but completely besides the point. The guys from those TV
shows were in no way starving and in need to eat an animal or die.

You're not going to tell me that you
> don't support our troops are you?

"Our" troops?, I'm not frmo the US.

Like I said, I'm all for animal

I probably wouldn't. I think I'd be as likely to kill an animal to
not die of starvation as I'd be to kill a human being. But I wouldn't
blame you for doing it. However, like I said, that's besides the
point.

It's been the way of the world since the
> beginning.

There are many things wrong that have been going on in the world for
very long or even as long as we know, and it doesn't mean they should
go on.

The circle of life. I know attitudes are changing but also we

Hi Crisstti & others?, I'm glad you responded. The original post was
from LookingGlass. He was watching "Survivor Guy' & on that episode the
guy ate part of a sheep. LookingGlass wrote: Mmmm...! [ As in yummy ] I
thought that was funny. Plus I thought the words he typed in the subject
line were quite funny. I used to be a stand up comedian [ Just locally ]
So I can find humor in anything & I find that it's healthy to do so. I
used to do a bit about dead Kennedy's which got a groan followed by
large laughs every time I did it. Don't get me wrong, I consider Jack &
Bobby to be great passionate men. I'd get a little pissed [ just a
little ] when people would rag on Teddy for his mistakes. Give the guy a
break, he lost his 3 older brothers & I'm sure two of them he found out
about on TV. Probably even saw it happen on live TV. Not to mention all
the other horrible things that family went through. Try being a father
to how many was it?...14 kids? I'd drink too! However I still think
anything & everything is fair game. Otherwise I'd go nuts. I saw a
documentary about the president of PETA. [ I can't remember her name ]
At one point in the film she took a dog away from it's owner [ with his
permission ] who clearly didn't care about it. She didn't tell the owner
but she euthanized the dog. From what I remember about the health of the
dog I didn't think that was necessary. It seemed to me that she didn't
want to spend the time & money to help the dog. Maybe I'm wrong, it was
a long time ago. I saw somewhere that PETA doesn't even want people to
keep animals as pets! I hope that information was wrong. If you really
want to know. I have many health problems, ailments, syndromes, & a
disease. Sixteen car wrecks [ none my fault ] 13 were really bad....
vehicles rolling over ] The disease I was talking about is called
Candida, [ I'm waiting for the Tony Orlando jokes guys ] or Candida
Albicans. I may have the more serious Candiasis or Systemic Candida.
Both have tons of unfriendly symptoms & western medicine is totally
ignorant about it even though western medicine caused it. The three main
symptoms are debilitating fatigue, cognitive dysfunction [ brain fog ] &
mood swings. This started around '94. I got this from taking too many
antibiotics. I would suggest to anyone who reads this: Anytime you HAVE
to take antibiotics or a steroid, go to a health food store & get you
some probiotics. Preferably cold & dairy-free. Nowadays there putting
probiotics in everything, including dog food hmm, :) Birth control
pills can cause it too. I can't have sugar in any form, nothing aged, no
dairy, no grains, no eggs, no baked goods, no pasta, no rice, oranges,
grapefruit, beans, corn, peanuts, beef, chicken, pork, [ unless no
steroids or antibiotics in the animal ] I can have SOME seafood. No
apples, white potatoes, food coloring, chemical additives, yeast,
preservatives, chocolate, soft drinks, nothing processed or packaged, no
coffee, tea, alcohol, ketchup, or mustard to name a few. The diet says
only wild game & some low carb veggies & low carb fruits but only in
very small amounts. That's why I couldn't go veggie even tough I wanted
to. It's like a yeast infection only it's in your GI Tract. We all have
some yeast I just have a lot more. I'll spare you the really gory
details. I've only met one person online who beat this. There's a bunch
of forums online for people who have this. I was always thin but this
illness caused me to balloon to 328 pounds. When I self diagosed it I
talked a doctor into giving me Diflucan [ an antifungal ] I was well
within 7 days & lost 130 pounds in 5 months. That's one Olsen twin! [ or
both! ] Five months later I went to a dietican for some advice. I wanted
to expand my diet because I was only eating the same 4 foods over & over
again. This guy gave me bad advice & I've been sick [ again ] ever
since. That was in 2001. I've lived on a couch for about 14 years. It
looks like I was wrong about the Army Ranger thing. I apologize. Next
point: I assume wherever you live you have a miltary of somekind. As far
as I can remember you never told us where you live, or at least not
since I've been back. If so, they've probably taken survival training.
Next point. "The present" It still goes on we just don't see as much of
it. Especialy if you don't live in really rural area. Next point Yes,
there are traps that capture mice alive. Try finding one in a store with
CFS. I'm betting they cost more too & I haven't worked since 1993. I
used to post in a politcal group but left there due to all of the
personal attacks, racism, & homophobia [ which I deplore ] & name
calling [ which I will not do ] I always picture the people that do
that as about 95 pounds with very thick glasses taped in the middle. So
brave hiding behind their pc anonymously. The kind of people that used
to write about others on bathroom walls in the 3rd grade. As far as me
linking myself to it. Like I briefly mentioned before. Watching some
dude drink his urine is hilarious to me & so was the phrase " PETA piper
pecked" This is a Beatles group. I think that anyone who's REALLY into
the band should live there life closer to what the message was about.
Then again Beatles fans are a dime a dozen so we're going to get
racists, homophobes & non-pacifists. Reminds me of a Nirvana song that
Kurt wrote after their previous album went to #1 in which Kurt sings "
He's the one who likes all our pretty songs and he likes to sing along
and he likes to shoot his gun but he don't know what it means no he
don't know what it means " My point was to let you know that I'm more
liberal & not a killer. I realize that I probably put some things in
that post that didn't need to be there & after reading it... it came off
more like a rant. I respectfully aplogize for that. Are we somewhat cool
now? I hope so because I type with two fingers & I'm exausted :) If not,
please post again & I will respond. I'm not here to make enemies. Now go
rest your eyes. Last noseless smiley face--->:) Sincerely, K9

Yeah, and he did it for money and maybe for fun too. I don't know
what kind of person would do something like that... and for those
reasons. Plus, those kinds of shows promote that (cruelty,
unsensitivity, greed).

LookingGlass wrote: Mmmm...! [ As in yummy ] I

My native language isn't English, so I have completely missed the
humour of LookingGlass' post.

I remember seeing an interview with that guy from Monty Python (I
can't remember his name right now) and he said the same (about not
seeing any issue in which he could find humour). Not sure I agree
though. But like I said, I didn't get the humour in the OP. Also,
there's a difference between finding humour and making fun of
something... but I don't know what LookingGlass' intention was.

I'm guessing the documentary was "I am an Animal", about Ingrid
Newkirk.

She did ask for the owner's permission.

From what I remember about the health of the

I can't remember if it was neccesary or not, healthwise. But PETA
does have a policy and, let's say, philosophy, that is very
utilitarian (and with which many animal rights activists disagree,
some very strongly)

I saw somewhere that PETA doesn't even want people to
> keep animals as pets! I hope that information was wrong.

PETA, as many other animal rights activists/groups are indeed against
people keeping pets, in the long term. They do agree and encourage
keeping as pets the domestic animals who are already here. I don't
think I agree with them. But I don't think I've given the issue THAT
much thought either.

If you really

!!!

I'm very sorry.

As far

We do. I live in Chile. I would not for a second consider it
acceptable for them to kill animals for any kind of "practice"
purpose. I've never heard about them doing it either. I do think
that some drink their own urine as a survival practice.

> Next point. "The present"  It still goes on we just don't see as much of

It doesn't go one like it used to.

Especialy if you don't live in really rural area.

There it goes on because people want it to, not because of need.

Next point Yes,

If I'd picture them at all, I'd guess they'd look quite the opposite.

So

There I'd agree.

As far as me

Yeah, maybe, but that is quite different from killing a poor ship.

& so was the phrase " PETA piper
> pecked"

Well, like I said, I just don't get that phrase.

This is a Beatles group. I think that anyone who's REALLY into
