Sometimes when I'm sad, it helps to listen to a sad song or a blues
song so I can wallow in my misery.
Which Beatles song is the best sad/blues/I wannafeelsorryformyself
song?

It is hard for me to choose just one, but I do have a fondness for Yer
Blues. How much bluer can one get . . . ."Yes, I'm lonely. Wanna
die. Yes, I'm loooonely. Wanna die. If I ain't dead
already . . . ." I also like the way the vocals are done, the change
in rhythm and the guitar work.

Which is your fave Beatles blues song?

I don't choose Beatles music when I'm sad usually, but pick
Hello Goodbye, or Hey Jude.

I think "I'm a Loser" could make sadness into depression. "Don't Let
Me Down" would work for me. Nothing like some very loud Little
Richard or live J. Geils music to rid me of any sadness.

Do you really even need to ask?

FOR NO ONE!

Your day breaks, your mind aches
You find that all her words of kindness linger on
When she no longer needs you

She wakes up, she makes up
She takes her time and doesn't feel she has to hurry
She no longer needs you

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

You want her, you need her
And yet you don't believe her when she says her love is dead
You think she needs you

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

You stay home, she goes out
She says that long ago she knew someone but now he's gone
She doesn't need him

Your day breaks, your mind aches
There will be times when all the things she said will fill your head
You won't forget her

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

I'd go with "Girl" - the pure minor modal blues always win for saddest
idiom, but the lyrics might not suit your purpose...

The guy in Randy Newman's "Have You Seen My Baby?" aka "Hold On" (from
the RINGO album) gets screwed pretty royally as well:

Have you seen my baby
On the avenue?
You know she's driving me crazy
With the funny things she do
I seen her with the milkman,
Ridin' down the street.
When you're through with my baby, milkman,
Send her home to me

I seen her with the gypsies,
Dancin' in the wood.
She's always been unfaithful to me.
She's never been no good.
I say, "Please don't talk to strangers, baby!"
But she always do.
She say, "I'll talk to strangers if I want to,
'Cause I'm a stranger, too!"

Hold on, hold on, hold on.
You know it's been so long,
Since she has been gone.
Hold on, hold on, hold on.

Yes, that is a very sad one too. The melody is a tear jerker.

Sounds like a girl I once new and her name wasn't Sue.

With a bimbo like that he should be happy.

If we wanna include bitterness and pettiness in our "sad" category,
I'm reminded of a line of Beatles greeting cards that were issued in
the 1980s. Some were obvious happy messages ("I Wanna Hold Your Hand"
et al), but there were a few more edgy selections as well. My favorite
one had on the front:

"I'm looking through you."

and when you opened up the card, on the inside it added:

"You're not the same."

I saved that one for awhile but never quite found myself in a
situation worthy of the sheer gut-punch chill of the card's message!

That song can be interpreted as a sad one . . . but when I think of
Your MOther Should Know, I also think of the Beatles doing that silly
dance in Magical Mystery Tour. You know, the one where they trot down
the steps, Paul has a red, the others have black, etc. It looked so
corny. So when I think of Your Mother Should Know, I tend to laugh.

I love the song..but it sounds like the Tempo sped up or
slowed down.

Yes, if one knows the circumstances of John's upbringing that is a sad
one. Plus the way he sings the song, he sounds quite blah.

Nah dont do that. Since you finely said sumfin nice about the Yoke,
and how good the Two Virgins cover is, Mista Charlie gonna litya in on
a lil ole secret of his...

When ya feel depress or down, heres three steps ta folla...sorta like
12 Steps but feweer....and mush betta!!!

1. Role yerself one HUGE fat spliff...and spark it up.
2. Grab yerself a ice cold 40 outta the fridge. Steel Reserve is
Mista Chucks fave. Nice kick to it! But Mickeys, Country Club, Crazy
Horse, Haffenreffa, St. Ides, Olde English will also do.
3. Go back and forth, puff, swig, puff, swig.
4. Yer feelin better allready. Now, play "kiss Kiss KISS.
5. Wank off, to the Yoke's mastabashim's.
