I have often read about the "Dexterized" version of the U.S. release
of "Rubber Soul." But I have never seen nor heard a copy, and Bruce
Spizer makes no mention of it in his book "The Beatles on Capitol
Records, Vol. 2." Can someone tell me how to identify a copy of this
version of "Rubber Soul" without playing it?

It has 12 tracks of which the first is "I've Just Seen a Face," not
14 of which the first is "Drive My Car".

Isn't the one in the new Capitol set (stereo), the Dexterized one?
Wasn't it the one that was released by Capitol originally, therefore
should be the one in the Capitol set, no?

Because the Dexterized version came out later than the original version, the
only hope you have of finding one without playing it first is to check the
"New Improved Full Dimensional Stereo" logo at the top of the cover. On the
Dexterized version, those words appear against a white background, as
opposed to appearing against the dark brown background of the cover photo.
This change was made to the cover at approximately the same time that the
Dexterized version of the album was issued.

It's no guarantee that you'll get a Dexterized version, but it's the only
hope you have if you can't play the album before you buy it.

Someone just put this up on alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1960s. I forgot
how wonderful it sounds. My favorite version of RS.
