This weekend I visited the Museum at Bethel Woods located on the
original site of the Woodstock Festival near Monticello NY. What a
trip down memory lane for the 40th anniversary year of the event.

I was afraid that the museum was going to be too "corporate"...going
against the grain of the Woodstock/Sixties spirit...and to be sure
there are some understated "corporate" elements to the museum. It is
a big place with rules, and certain restricted areas, but it's such a
happy trippy account and homage to the event and the era, with very
friendly and helpful guides (the cashier at the gift shop was a local
whose father, now 88 years old, flew some of the concert performers
into Woodstock in a helicopter) that any negative vestiges of a
modern day museum are stripped away to honor that wonderful time 40
years ago.

Also, there is a special exhibit running through September all about
John Lennon and Yoko Ono's bed-in for peace in Montreal in 1969 with
previously unseen photos, and first hand accounts from those involved
with all aspects of their peace campaign, and the recording of "Give
Peace A Chance".
