Jack Douglas secretly recording Lennon?

I have always thought this practice of recording Lennon secretly was
suspicious. From what I have read of the Double Fantasy sessions..Yoko
and John worked separately while recording by taking shifts.I wonder
if Yoko knew these sessions were being taped or had Douglas do it so
she could keep an eye on John when she wasn't around.Douglas said he
planned to give them to John once the sessions ended but that sounds
too convenient.You would think secretly recording your boss would be
grounds for termination and blacklisting at the least.

As far as I know, these were Master Control Room Tapes used to keep
track of billing. Everything was recorded.
