From Backstreets #77:

As rehearsed in Vancouver, lyrics include: "Fear's a powerful
thing/turns hard steel to rust" and "Got my finger on the trigger/I
don't know who to trust/When I look into your eyes/There's just devils
and dust."

Also, I recall reading (on Backstreets.com) that lyrics also included
"Fear's a powerful thing" and "...a world of earth and oil."

But that's all that I've ever seen.  Nothing for Hard Drive, which I
believe is only known from the New York Times article ("His Kind of
Heroes, His Kind of Songs") that referred to the song as a
"non-starter."
