Beckel's response: "I talk to more persuadable voters
in a month than anybody on MSNBC and CNN talks
to in a year."

"Is there a difference between Fox and MSNBC?" he
(Lanny Davis - former WH council for Bill Clinton) asked.
"You count the number of guests on Rachel [Maddow] and
Keith [Olbermann] who are conservative Republicans. If
you get to double digits, I'll buy you dinner for each one."

Democratic pollster Doug Schoen - "They are the most
professional network of any I have dealt with," he said.
"If you are a Democrat who wants to deliver mindless talking
points on Fox, it's probably best to go to MSBNC and hope
you get a chance to recite them. I think Fox encourages
critical views of all sides, asks different kinds of questions
and wants to have diversity of view."

a 2008 Pew Research survey found that while almost half of
viewers who regularly watch Fox News identify as Republican
or Republican leaning, 39 percent tip Democratic and 12 percent
have no stated angle at all.

When the fourth estate has abandoned their duties and has given Obama
a complete free pass, why begrudge one fucking network that you feel,
doesn't?

Get a life, shithead.

When that network is full of lies, distortions, and paranoia, I'll
begrudge it all I want to, jizz licker.

Now please, show me *one* network that has given Obama a free pass.
Just *one* that hasn't been critical.

I'll be waiting.

Quite a long time.

Oh, so what didn't you understand about Olbermann and Maddow not
having many Republican guests or encouraging all different kinds of
questions and viewpoints?

American Idol is the highest rated entertainment program.
Oprah is the highest rated talk show. I don't go to either,
for entertainment or advice.

All the quotes I put up came from the mouths of democratic
leaders.

Nor should you. Point being, Fox may have high ratings, but that
doesn't mean it's balanced, informative or worthwhile.

Example: Wallace interviews Limbaugh and totally softballs it. Might
as well have just had Limbaugh drop his pants and show Wallace kissing
his ass. And unlike a Hannity or O'Reilly, Wallace is supposed to be
an actual journalist presenting actual news.

Democratic pollsters/pundits under contract with Fox proceeding to

Ratings were never the point of the post. Every music newsgroup
agrees that the masses are bland and generic for the most part.
From Britney to American Idol to the endless reality shows.

The story is that of the (many) dems Fox employs. You cannot
find a likewise number of conservative views at ABC, CBS, NBC,
MSNBC, CNN, or any other major news outlet. None of them.

Last I was aware Limbaugh was an entertainer, not a politician. Limbaugh is
a pig to me, not because of his political bias (that's his job and his
beliefs),
but because of his demeanor and attitude, his addiction to oxycodone while
berating someone who would smoke a joint. If I was reading the text of RL,
not knowing who wrote it, I'd probably agree with 70% of his points tho.
Likewise, in the same manner, I'd probably agree with Olbermann 30%.

I saw many political interviews during the election period. Katie Couric
drilled
Palin and fawned all over Obama, as did all the other networks. From
Meredith Vierra to Charlie Gibson. Chris Matthews got a tingle up his leg
for chrissakes.. No, there is no arguement whatsoever that all the major
networks were in the bag for the dems.

Those quoted in the article, that work at Fox are:

Bob Beckel - Democrat strategist who worked for Robert F. Kennedy
and ran Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign,
part of the Carter admin.

Lanny Davis - no one could be more democratic then Lanny.. see
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanny_Davis
Muskie campaign, 3 terms on the DMC, etc

Susan Estrich - feminist advocate, Hillary supporter -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Estrich

Peter Fenn - first Executive Director of Democrats for the 80s,
lead media consultants for the Democratic
Congressional
Campaign Committee, an adviser to Gore for
President in
2000, and Kerry in 2006

The man you are speaking of (another one quoted) is Douglas Schoen:
"one of the most influential Democratic campaign
consultants for over thirty years." and worked on
Bill
Clinton's 1996 reelection campaign.
http://www.powerofthevote.com/about_doug_schoen.php

None of these are talking heads, but are in fact political heavyweights in
the democratic party. Show me any similar number of conservative
views on the other networks. And if you read the article, it certainly told
of pissed dems on the network as well.

And how much influence do those dems have as Fox employees, really?
How much does Fox do to promote not only "conservative" views (don't
think many true conservatives would agree with the Fox agenda, hence
the quotation marks) but the liberal/democratic views they're
supposedly so swell for having?

They don't. Period.

Who are Fox's heavy hitters, the ones that really draw the ratings?
Hannity. Beck. O'Reilly. They may have dems/liberals on their shows,
but they're only there to be shot down, interrupted, dismissed and
told to shut up. Simply having a guest on ≠ giving their views equal
weight.

I look around at the other networks. Who do I see? Dick Cheney. Liz
Cheney. Pat Buchanan. Karl Rove. John McCain. Newt Gingrich. All. The.
Fucking. Time.

RL may not be a politician, but he may as well be one given the
influence he appears to have. Again, I point to the fact that repubs
have felt a need to apologize to him for rightly calling him out on
his bullshit.

As for how much you'd agree with him...I won't go there so as to
remain civil. :-)

KC "drilled" Palin? Really? Don't think so. She hadn't been made
available for interviews prior and was asked some very legitimate
questions, which she couldn't even answer. A woman no one had ever
heard of before and knew nothing about is suddenly in a position to
become VP, and some actual questions = being drilled? Come on.

I will agree that the the media favored Obama in general prior to the
election. But that has long since passed.

Good grief man... 83, do you honestly belive what a single report
says without consulting multiple sources? Would you have surgery
without a 2nd opinion?

You come across as such a bright guy, I don't understand your point
of view. No disrespect intended, but if you would only stop & realize
that by posting items such as that, it only tears folks down. Why?

In the spirit of sharing, let me show you something, I'm hoping you'll
at least think about the concept...

The most unbiased method of reading the news is 'object based', and
google news is object based:

By using the metaphor of an object with several satellites in its orbit,
you can get closer to the untainted truth than any other method mankind
has yet developed. For instance, if you read something about conflict in
the middle east, yet fail to read the thoughts & opinions of folks who
actually live in that part of the world, one lacks the 'big picture'.

They are not there for 'influence', they are paid to promote their views.

There is no dispute from anyone I know as to how Fox leans.
The point of the article was they offer more opposing views
than any other network. At least three surveys have said
as much.

> Who are Fox's heavy hitters, the ones that really draw the ratings?
> Hannity. Beck. O'Reilly. They may have dems/liberals on their shows,

The dems mentioned would not take to being told to shut up, and
are far too smart to be played as fools. The article said as much.

> I look around at the other networks. Who do I see? Dick Cheney. Liz
> Cheney. Pat Buchanan. Karl Rove. John McCain. Newt Gingrich. All. The.

Not the same in any way (except for recently Buchanan). You're giving
examples of interviews. Name any other station with 5 known
conservatives on their payroll.

Many republicans do not associate with RL, same as many
dems do not follow the path of Reed or Pelosi. And again, you
are speaking of influence. Oprah stood by Obamas side,
I never saw RL give a speech for McCain or Huckabee.

The major networks interviewing McCain or Palin conducted those
interviews like they had a smudge of shit under their nose.
Attitude and arrogance..

> I will agree that the the media favored Obama in general prior to the
> election. But that has long since passed.

Totally wrong. Watch NBC or MSNBC news. Obama still gets a
pass. On virtually everything from adding troops to a health bill
that Obama promised would be open to see in front of the
C-Span cameras.

> See above. What influence are they having on Fox? Not much, if
> anything at all.

All surveys say Fox viewers are 30-36% democrat. The dem
pundits on payroll are there to present their opinions. That
is pretty clearcut and straight forward.

> I'm still waiting for someone to show me where all these overtly
> liberal views that outbalance conservative views are. Care to help me?

I never said that it was 'equal', or anything else for that matter. I
merely posted the news article. There is no other network that
even attempts to match the opposing views that Fox does.
Again, name 5 conservatives that are part of the staff on any
other network.

I think after the election, we all pretty much know which way
the others lean.. 98% of all reactions are stamped in stone
at this point. That includes politics, religion, and yes,

even Kiss. :op

Ya gotta stir the proverbial pot occasionally tho, as it seems

we'll get another Kiss or Ace album in the next year..! Both are
about as likely as making steve smarter, bronco less gay,

And everytime I see this criticism towards Maddow, I can't help but
think those making it probably haven't seen her show much. Olbermann,
sure - he's the left-leaning version of a Limbaugh or Hannity.
Maddow, though, has guests with an opposing viewpoint on all the time

Maddow is a dullard that barks out. When she was on Air America, I
used to listen to her ridiculous show every morning. She never took
calls, so no one ever called her on her ridiculous opinions. I always

MSNBC CBS ABC CNN

None of them mentioned that while two movies stars were visiting the
whitehouse. so where sharpton, Jackson, Bill ayers, and reverend
Jerimiah right. They left out all the controversial people. Every last
one of the networks did so. They don't call him out on how congress
exempts themselves from the health care bill that's supposedly so
great. they don't point out that even though the democrats say that
this bill is needed immediately and is very important that it get done
now, that even if it passes, it won't start until 2013. AFTER the
re-election. Knowing damn good and well it's done that way that in

Not long at all. You refuse to listen. You're blinded by stupidity and
partisan loyalty to a party that would let your Mother or Grandmother

she's too old to receive any more care. It is in the bill.

LOL! A republican wouldn't be trying to reform health care. They never
have.

You're clueless. Find a rich young man to settle down with, because
that's your only hope at this point.

If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn`t buy one.
If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn`t eat meat.

A conservative sees a foreign threat and thinks about how to defeat

A liberal wonders how to surrender gracefully and still look good.

Very true, but the subject of Fox and 'fairness' has come up many
times, and this is the first article I've seen that gives the dems
(those inside Fox) views. As I just now turned on Fox, I am
seeing a panel of 4 on Greta Sustern (sp?) 2 dems, 2 republicans,
debating the republican wins in VA and NJ. One of the dems is
Bob Beckel and the other is Howard Deans campaign manager,
Joe Trippi. Both are speaking freely, both are blasting republicans.
I dunno how it could be any more 'balanced'.. Both those guys know
Fox is to the right of center. Neither one is having their mic
cut, or being belittled.

> The article itself, eh. Sorry, but I don't see any democratic views/
> opinions being "promoted" on Fox.

The main point (for me) of the article is that Fox has many
people on their payroll who are there for nothing more than
to present their liberal opinions. Do they give those liberals
their own show every night for an hour? No.. but they get
a lot of 'face' time every week, and I've never seen them
stiffled. Even on Hannity, for many years there was the
opposing view of the very liberal Alan Colmes, there every
single night to debate whatever rant Hannity may have
been on. While I would never claim Fox to be totally 'fair and
balanced', they are moreso than any of the other major
networks, at least in allowing an opposing viewpoint.

> I guess the view from the right is different.

Not really, I see mostly a bunch of self-serving, overpaid,
lobbyist sellouts on both sides of the aisle from this angle
as well, but I still have hope for the future tho, 'ever the
optimist. :)

And a foolish move by the current president no?
Likely just as foolish when Bush disdained MSNBC as well...

There's nothing new here... Those towards the right
appearing on broadcasters whom tilt leftwards, are token
offerings at best that have little to no impact within the
demographic of a given viewership. Just as those to the
left on FOX are nothing more than 'faces'.

The real issue at stake here is: if you saw someone needing
help that you knew beforehand took a differing view than
yourself, would you be an ass & not chip in to help?
What if the shoe was on the other foot? Isnt that what
the moral majority is all about? (helping people).

Its the truth...

Bingo...

I think its important to note too, that this last presidential
election was not a victory for dems (just as NY was not
for the right). It was a victory only for the person
who won the race they ran...

I always get a laugh when one side says 'we showed them!',
no not really.

Maybe folks just vote for who they feel will best serve them...

Oh yeah, we're all seeking the truth man...

I'm about 2/3 to the left, 1/3 to the right.

Abortion - I'm against it, to remove a baby from its
mother's womb is murder.

Pro-guns, but come on... when 12 year olds are running around
with bazookas, that's bullsh*t. A deer hunter doesn't need
a semi-automatic (Uncle Ted can bite my *ss).

Hope heathcare passes... most folks who would be helped
by the bill are working families.

Keith Olbermann is a smartass, Limbaugh is an entertainer
and nothing more, (as if).

Bottom line (for me) get out of other countries, we would'nt
put up with occupation, so it should come as no surprise no
one else wants to.

We ought to invest in science, books, repaving roads,
alternate energy.

And you'll note while the private sector b*tches about
the money uncle sam wants to spend on reform, they
were the 1st in line with palms out with the bailouts...

It's amazing, I never thought I would read an online political thread
and see something I 100% agree with, but you've managed to do just
that, Mike. It amazes me how Dems & Republicans are more interested in
"their side" rather than making a difference. Politics are nothing
more than a dick measuring contest. They flop out their junk on the
table and argue who has the biggest one. And while I voted for him,
Obama is just like the everyone else. Of course, I knew that long
before I decided to vote for him, but you get my point.
