A Travis Bean - identifiable by the big 'T' cut out of the headstock... If
memory serves me, both Ace and Gene played TB guitars for a while - that's
who built him a prototype of that Axe bass... They were aluminum necked
guitars... I think one of the Kramer guys split off and eventually made
the Kramer Axe Bass for Simmons

irresponsible for me :)
Honestly - some of those designs look awful - like those early Peavey
guitars... I liked that Vee though....

I think the one I was looking at was the DMZ 2000. I seem to remember
the different color wood on the body, and it didn't have a gloss
finish. It was set up with mega low action and felt really good. I
guess it's one that got away.

Honestly, everybody I spoke to -with regards to those, and the Travis
Bean's - said that the aluminum neck was a bear to work with when it got
cold...
I'm keeping my 2 Ferringtons.... That's for sure :)

However, if you live in the tropics... play on :)
The Ferringtons are obviously more show than good acoustic. Easy to
play - pretty much like electrics. My trick is to pump them through an
EQ (bumping up the bass) to make them remotely sound like an acoustic.
I LOVE all those old 80's guitars - Charvels, Jacksons, Kramers, etc...
I still have 2 Peavey Vandenbergs... (Don't ask about why I have two of
everything.. It's a little issue I have :)

One to collect, one to use?
A girl I was friends and nothing more with had a Peavey something or
other back in '82. I loved that guitar. I think she thought I had a
crush on her because I'd hang out and play it all the time.

No.. I play and mod everything... My issue *was*...I'd go out with 3
guitar stands, and I thought it looked cool to have 3 identical guitars
on said stands... So, on whatever night, it would be 3 Explorers, or 3
Strats, or 3 Vandenbergs... 3 Les Pauls... 3 Vees.....
PS - I'm on the lookout for a 3rd Ferrington - not in Black or White :)
I sold the Explorers, and one of the Vandenbergs, and one of the LP's...
So, I'm trying...

I bought my '78 LP Standard (for $300) from a girl who said it was 'too
heavy'...and it is... What killed me is that she just strummed it like
an acoustic... That always bothered me about girl players... I don't
know why they can't master power chords or playing stuff like
'Grinder' :)

I agree with you - to a degree... I'm fully aware of great players like
Lita Ford and Kelly Johnson - but they're the exception rather than the
rule... I know WAY more girls that strum.
Honestly, I think it's because the ratio of electric vs. acoustic is
staggeringly more acoustic - and that's how you play acoustic.

doesn't sing and I offered to pay for singing lessons, but that hasn't
caught on.
Meanwhile, I've been playing a bunch of music by woman artists (as I
have most of her life) all over the spectrum. Two that she
outstandingly ridicules are You Were Meant for Me by Jewel and

I know trying to shove MY music down her throat doesn't work in the

It all boils down to the fact that chicks don't airband to guitar
solos. If there was some chick out there proving she could fart as
loud as a man, I doubt NOW would adopt her as their posterchild...
