I thought, between the two groups, that we were actually all getting
along pretty well. Actually,
they made some in-roads here, because in the beginning I didn't like
KISS at all. But, after
going 'round the mullberry bush a hundred times with Evil Rev,
Moonpie, Labrat, AJ, El Jeffe
and a host of others, I actually gave KISS a chance, and found that I
like the one album "Dressed
To Kill", which is pre-Greed Twins. And now, I have some other guys
with which I can share musical
tastes. Plus, a pretty good Led Zep discussion emerged out of it.
Thanks for helping to reinforce my belief that the vast majority of
Springsteen are both elitist & exclusionary
ER
The dude hates KISS. Obviously, he's never heard their first three
albums.
People in my circles know I am a Springsteen fanatic, but they are
shocked when they find out I love KISS as well. They cannot fathom
what they perceive as a dichotomy between the two. I like knowing
there are people similar to me out there.
Feel free to ignore the discussion if you don't like it.
I had no idea it was cross-posted. However, all KISS fans should be
Springsteen fans, IMHO.
I'm not. I liked one album and that's it. But IMO all KISS fans
should be metalheads.
I'll go you one better-I don't even care for ONE complete Springsteen
album
He has a few good songs here & there
However, since being a Springsteen fan means allegiance to the liberal
party line, its easy to forgo listening to him
ER
You took the words right out of my mouth. :-)
I'm sure that in 1985 plutonium is available in every corner
drugstore, but in 1955 it's a little hard to come by.
They both put on spectacular shows, albeit in very different ways. I
think both groups can appreciate the fervor of the others hardcore
fanbase. They are more similar than different. The music is actually
complimentary; while Bruce offers a commentary on society, KISS offers
an escape from it.
In the last year I have taken non-fans to see both Springsteen and
KISS. In both cases they wondered what all the fuss was about going
in, and in both cases they were completely blown away coming out.
I hear there is one brewing in the west too
Not too early McFly, I sleep in Saturdays!

There are plenty of worse artists than Springsteen. I don't hate him
and hope he dies, I just don't like his music.
I bought it and I really like it. It hasn't sunk-in yet, like DTK has.
But, it's growing on me.
It's good fun rock music. It goes great with flying up the highway in
my cruiser. I never realized
how good Ace Frehley was. I always took them as amateurs. My fault.
I thought you always had DTK?
You mean the button that Ringo pushed in Yellow Submarine?

I did, but it was on vinyl.
No. That was either Evil Rev or Moonpie. I never had ANY KISS album up
until a couple albums ago. But,
I heard some early KISS stuff in the 70's because my childhood friends
were taken by them similar to
the way the Red Death takes people. It was only until this past KISS
arguement that I decided to give the first
three albums a real try beginning to end. I wasn't disappointed.
They're good musicians, good hard rock music.

My dad didn't differentiate. If it was my music, it was horrible no
matter what. I'll never forget when he walked in while I was playing
Kansas and he called it "N-word" music. My dad was funny like that.
Meanwhile he has the biggest collection of 50's music that I've ever
seen, and arguably the roots there make it more "N-word" music than
Kansas. I'm thinking that was something his dad said to him.

Your just supporting his Coc habit." LOL.
The lead singer had dated and impregnated the hottest women alive.
He has never been seen with a man in any compromising position in his
entire life, but he has been seen with beautiful women since 1973 when
he first became a public figure. The dude only dates tens. he is NOT
gay.

I tried but never got into them. Did Locomotive Breath in a band once

How come Jimmy Page didn't put a spell on Ian Anderson like he did to
Robert Plants
kid and have him killed (said someone on the KISS thread last month)?
LOL!!! That's not what I said!!!!
All I mentioned is that Robert Plant felt that Jimmy Page's dabbling
in black magic created bad mojo around Zep, and that may have
contributed to Plant's accident and his child's death. Jimmy didn't
intentionally put the whammy on Robert...

Because Paul is my hero. My favorite entertainer of any kind.
To me, Paul is KISS and is the voice of hard rock/metal.
Was Plant against that sort of thing, or did he just like the "image"?
I think that Plant took what he could from the image, but stayed as
far away as possible from the real thing.
It was more Page than anyone else in the band. I'm not sure how any
of Plant's beliefs coudl have "put a bad mojo
around Zep,....may have contributed to Plant's accident or his child's
death." Not sure if that's possible.
