Can't we keep it to our own groups?
No matter how hard you try to combine the two, they will never be as
good as "you got your peanut butter in my chocolate, you got your
chocolate in my peanut butter!"

I thought, between the two groups, that we were actually all getting
along pretty well. Actually,
they made some in-roads here, because in the beginning I didn't like
KISS at all. But, after
going 'round the mullberry bush a hundred times with Evil Rev,
Moonpie, Labrat, AJ, El Jeffe
and a host of others, I actually gave KISS a chance, and found that I
like the one album "Dressed
To Kill", which is pre-Greed Twins. And now, I have some other guys
with which I can share musical
tastes. Plus, a pretty good Led Zep discussion emerged out of it.

Thanks for helping to reinforce my belief that the vast majority of
Springsteen are both elitist & exclusionary

tastes. I see no problem discussing our different musical tastes in a
Springsteen newsgroup.
People in my circles know I am a Springsteen fanatic, but they are
shocked when they find out I love KISS as well. They cannot fathom
what they perceive as a dichotomy between the two. I like knowing
there are people similar to me out there.
Feel free to ignore the discussion if you don't like it.

They both put on spectacular shows, albeit in very different ways. I
think both groups can appreciate the fervor of the others hardcore
fanbase. They are more similar than different. The music is actually
complimentary; while Bruce offers a commentary on society, KISS offers
an escape from it.
In the last year I have taken non-fans to see both Springsteen and
KISS. In both cases they wondered what all the fuss was about going
in, and in both cases they were completely blown away coming out.

Have you had a chance to listen to Hotter than Hell? I downloaded
Dressed to Kill while I was camping last week, and while it was pretty

Just because we fall for one quirky phoney and costumed image doesn't

No. That was either Evil Rev or Moonpie. I never had ANY KISS album up
until a couple albums ago. But,
I heard some early KISS stuff in the 70's because my childhood friends
were taken by them similar to
the way the Red Death takes people. It was only until this past KISS
arguement that I decided to give the first
three albums a real try beginning to end. I wasn't disappointed.
They're good musicians, good hard rock music.

My dad didn't differentiate. If it was my music, it was horrible no
matter what. I'll never forget when he walked in while I was playing
Kansas and he called it "N-word" music. My dad was funny like that.
Meanwhile he has the biggest collection of 50's music that I've ever
seen, and arguably the roots there make it more "N-word" music than
Kansas. I'm thinking that was something his dad said to him.
I'm going to break this family tradition. I say that with all
