Agreed. I'm chronologically tumbling through the Rush studio album
discography at work. Started with "RUSH" this morning, and just finished
"Signals." Will pick up with "Power Windows" tomorrow and hopefully get
through "Vapor Trails" before the bell rings :)

If you haven't read the VT album bio by Neil on rush.com, I suggest it. It's
good reading.

Note well taken Vin...but listening to "2112" the other day a few things

It's a matter of context I think. Remember, THEY will be the government, so
their computers will prolly still fill halls either due to being so out of
date, or due to having so many more of them than needed. As for the red star
indicating communism,...*shrug* I'm not completely sure that that is what
Rand was talking about, or Peart either. Not saying that it isn't, just that
I'm unsure<smirk>.

Great tunes indeed.

Interestingly, they've only sold 183,000 copies of Vapor Trails so
far. I have one, but I must admit I haven't gotten through track 3
yet for some reason. Maybe I'm just not in the mood for it, maybe
it's too Tool-ish. If I want to hear Tool, I'll listen to Tool - they
do it heavier and angrier anyway.

Speaking of Tool, what in the hell's with that band Earshot? I mean,
being influenced by another band is one thing, completely copying
their style is another. I looked them up on the web to see if Lenny
Wolf was a member of the band...

Hell, I was being serious! Have you heard that song? I kept thinking
to myself, "I don't remember this song on any of Tool's albums, and
I'm pretty sure it's not on A Perfect Circle. Maybe it's something
new from Tool or APC that I just don't know about." Then I found out
it was an entirely different band. What losers.

Apparently, they were in "earshot" of Tool and thought they should rip
them off...

This is what I read about their album on the all music guide:

Earshot's debut album for Warner Bros. is a tense mixture of various
alternative metal styles that were popular in the late '90s. More than
any other band, Earshot sounds a lot like Tool. Now there are lots of
bands who can lay claim to sounding like that band, but this could
have easily been a lost Tool album and no one would look twice.
Vocalist Will Martin can be a perfect clone for Menard Keenan at
times, although he also bears a striking resemblance to Ultraspank's
Pete Murray. Tracks like "Get Away" and "Wake Up" are solid tracks
that might be predictable, but retain their power and come across
nicely. This is also a band that is not afraid to mess around with
tempo, stopping songs in the middle and generally being very
experimental with their general setup. But what they might fail to
realize is that Tool is perhaps the ultimate experimental metal band,
and they make this sort of metal better than any other band in this
era. Earshot has a lot of potential, but on this debut they stick too
close to a formula that was concocted by a band that does it better.

BTW, Earshot is playing in Tallahassee on July 4. Symptomatic of a
