it's too bad that old-school newsgroups are unmoderated!

there is so much porn trash to wade through here. also, the layout is
horrible. what happened to only topics so you can see a whole page of
20 topics or something?

what a mess!

Moderated newsgroups have been points of arguments for years :)

What used to work well for me was filtering using my newsgroup reader
(MicroPlanet Gravity). It filtered out the crap fairly well.

My ISP (ATT) discontinued NNTP service which means I have to access
newsgroups now using the abomination known as google groups. Bummer,
really.

Huh. I don't see a lot of spam here. I get the digest in my email.
I only get something about once every couple months. Been a long time
since there was any real discussion here.

Comcast dropped newsgroups a while back. I really do prefer
newsgroups to fricken' web forums, but apparently I'm in the minority
(imagine that).
