At first, I started to write a glib, humorous reply to these posts.
Then, I decided that the least I could do is pull my copy of SUMMER IN
PARADISE and quote the bit with the address, just in case Sammy wants to
TRY to track down the artwork.
Then, I decided to drop by the artist's home page.
Next thing I knew, I had spent WAY too much time researching what was
supposed to be a quick one-liner.
The result is that this answer perhaps contains more information that
anyone really wanted to know.
*Sigh*
Anyway, the liner notes on SIP--which, by the way, came out eight years
ago--say this about the album art:
For information on how to obtain a reproduction
of the album artwork suitable for framing, send
a SASE to Paradise, P.O. Box 790, Bonsal, CA 92003
That's how to get a print suitable for framing. No word on how to get
the album itself, suitable for LISTENING. Unlike the one that came in
this snazzy CD package, I mean...

The name of the artist is Robert Lyn Nelson. He maintains galleries in
Maui and in Monterey, Calif. If you actually like his stuff, may I
direct you to his homepage:

keyboard all sticky.
The NEXT question would be, which piece of artwork in particular are you
looking for, Sammy? I can identify several distinct pieces of Nelson
artwork on my copy of SIP. [Please note that I'm referring to the
standard U.S. issue of SUMMER IN PARADISE. I've not seen the Euro
version, so your actual mileage may vary.]
The actual front cover is a painting Nelson calls "Elements of the
Universe." Check it out here:

You'll see that this is where the entire wrap-around outer cover comes
from--that's the planets, clouds, the island, the whale and the
hammerhead sharks. That's also the origin of the artwork that appears on
the disc itself.
And what's more, you can own a beautiful limited-edition print of this
artwork. Limited to only 475 copies, the print measures 35 inches by 14
inches. And it can be yours for a measley $2,300.
I'll give you a moment to let that price sink in...
For what it's worth, Nelson's web page says he's also selling his
originals. The web site does NOT list prices for the originals, however.
...Which is probably a good thing.
Now, that's just for the outer cover art. There are at least two, and
possibly three, additional pieces of art included in the SIP album. One
would be the shot of the waterfall, the sea turtle and the coral bed
that appears on the inside front cover. Another would be the moon rising
over the Pacific that appears on the little flap which holds the poster.
And another still would be the poster itself, which is also shown on the
album's inner flaps and features a U.S. flag, fireworks, jumping
dolphins and what appears to be a bikini-clad babe lying on the bottom
of the sea.
The poster art, I'm guessing, was exclusive to the album. It appears to
be titled "Summer In Paradise" and dated "MCMXCII," which is pretentious
Roman numeral-speak for "1992." So I'd bet that you can't get a copy of
it any other way than buying the album.
The other pieces of art, however, may in fact be available on the
artist's web site. You can go look it up for yourself. No offense--I
mean, I acknowledge that this is very well-designed and beautifully
executed artwork and I don't want to attempt to invalidate anyone's
appreciation of it but...
GOD DAMN, IT ALL LOOKS THE FREAKIN' SAME!
...And searching through an entire page of about five dozen of his
paintings really drives that point home, too.
So feel free to visit Nelson's site. Feel free to shop away. Me... well,
I have this sudden urge to go to Red Lobster.

Well, as somebody who recently graduated with a degree from a school of
Art & Design, it's given me hope. Pity I can't draw or paint! (I studied an
electronics course - don't ask why it was in the School of A&D! I never
found out after three years there.)

My sentiments, exactly. At the time the CD first appeared, I wrote a review
advising fans to keep the artwork but to throw the disc away.
