So...
For everyone who's had a chance to listen to the RA clips of ACtR, what
do you think??
Here's my reaction (I'll place it a bit further down, in case there's
someone who wants to wait to see for themselves)-

So far, I *love* the title cut. The lyrics, her voice, all sound great.
"Christmas Can't Be Very Far Away" kind of irritated me... I can't
understand the words at first, and I don't know why, but the way she
sings the words "Christmas can't be very far away" really annoys me. I
think the quality of the RA clip had something to do with it, though.
"Silent Night" has never been a favorite of mine, but I love this
version. The background music is beautiful.
"Christmas Lullabye" will probably be one of my favorites. Lyrically
and musically, it has the classic-Amy feel of being so simple it's
beautiful. It reminds me of a hymn we sing at church.
I've always loved "Jingle Bell Rock," so I was a little surprised when
this one sounded different. It's more subdued than the version I'm use
to. Still nice, though... it'll just take some time to grow on me.
"Mister Santa" will definitely take some time, too. Musically and
lyrically, it was a little too hokey.
I've always loved "'Til the Season Comes Round Again" . . . it's still a
great song. :) Now if only she'd have recorded "Let the Season Take
Wing"... ;)
I fell in love with "Welcome to Our World" the moment I first heard MwS
sing it. As I expected, this version is just as breathtaking.
"Angus Dei" seems like a great song to end on. Very Christmassy (sure,
that's a word)... I didn't think the clip was long enough to make a
definite opinion on it.
Just a few other notes-
I am always totally disinterested in instrumental songs when I first
hear them.... they take awhile for me to get use to, so I didn't comment
on "Highland Cathedral" and "Gabriel's Oboe". Interestingly enough,
though, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire" is one of my favorites from HfC.
I noticed that they decided to scrap "Merry Christmas Darling." Now
that I think about it, that does seem like an appropriate thing to do...
I still would like to hear the song, though! =)

Do you mean re-recorded it?? She did record that song. I have it
here somewhere, it was a single that Target gave out with her last
Christmas CD. . .
(It is one of my favorites! Wonderfully done. . .)
Just a thought. . .

Who produced this new one, do you know??

My .02,
Frame
I agree, from what I heard so far I am not impresed at all. I think that this
will be third on her Christmas album dept. But who knows maybe I have to hear
the whole album not just clips.
I have to agree. I don't like this song at all. I don't think I will like
the full version either. I too am not at all impressed by the CD from what I
have heard so far. I think it sounds dull and lifeless. Hopefully that
opinion will change. We'll see.

=) No problem...
I love listening to Christmas music in hot weather! I was jamming to "Home for
Christmas" just last week, and it really hit the spot. I love that CD so much.
It reminds me of Christmas when I was a kid, but the new one seems more like a
Martin/Sinatra styled deal. Like the tinkle of sleigh bells is really ice cubes
in a glass of scotch or something... By the way I am not a tee-toataler, it's
just that I associate Christmas with children, and I don't associate alcohol
with children, that's all. Does ayone have any idea what i'm talking about?

It's very hard to tell from the poor sound quality but IMHO it will be
extremely hard to exceed HFC (my all-time favourite Christmas album from
any artist).
Sue
I'll probably agree with Sue - because my all time fav album at all is HfC.

I went to www.musicforce.com and listened to all of the soundclips from ACtR.
I liked what I heard of each song. Mister Santa will be a fave with the kiddie
set.
While I was there, I also listened to LMO and HfC. The distorted sound quality
of the website is a problem, so I'm holding off judgment until the CD is in my
CD-ROM, where I can hear everything much clearer. When I get a new CD, I like
pop it in and read the liner notes as the music plays.
