It's been raining, which we really need so I won't complain
but what better time to work on the bike, right?
I took the tank off, brought it in and painted it to match
the helmet Joe bought me last year when I got the bike.
I took a pic before I put the tank back on the bike
this afternoon. http://www.pkriders.org/tank-art.htm
The compressor is great, fairly quiet and I think I
am getting the hang of the airbrush.

I'm sure I'll get better at it with practice...

Beth, you know I don't have anything for it to latch

Hey thanks. :)
That's what Joe wants me to do. He has $$ for eyes now
and thinks he can retire and put me to work. I'd gladly
paint at home but not if means setting up shop at a rally.
I wanna have fun too!

If someone wants some work done, I'll do it here at
my "home shop". :-)
I've got another tank and a helmet to paint now. Looks
like I am going to get more practice. And yes, I can get
better. I was figuring out airbrush technique on my own
tank. Didn't want to screw up someone elses. LOL

Sure looks nice in the pic! I'm with S.R. on this one!
Where'd you learn to do that kind of work? Hell, I can't draw a

If you can give me a basic sketch of how you want
the lemming to look in relation to the union jack, I'll
see what I can do. <g>

Hi Steve, I have been painting with a brush since I was
a rugrat. Joe has been after me to take up airbrushing
for a very long time. Better late than never, I guess. :)

I've got some ideas for designs. There's one I'd really
like to do that would work great on a Honda Dhadow.
I bet you can guess it. <g>

I thought about painting the Enterprise and some far out
planets and nebula on my bike. LOL When I get
tired of the one I just did, I'll paint something else.

Oh, I am into it now, Scott... :) My love of painting is about

Sunny,

Nice work! I'm beginning to dabble in airbrushing myself, working on a
helmet right now. I'm using Createx AutoAir paints, with the plan being to
clearcoat with regular automotive clear. (Probably House of Kolor or
similar). I've done an older helmet (for practice), and it came out great as
far as durability and shine ... can't say much for the artwork, though!

Which paints did you use for color / clear?

Thank you, Larry. :) I think that is cool that you are trying out
airbrushing. There's lots of info on the net about technique, etc.
I'd like to see the finished work when you are done.
Have you seen this? http://www.howtoairbrush.com/

As for paint, this was my first attempt and I used just regular
Krylon enamel that actually doesn't require a top coat but
I did some research and found a clear poly urethane type
coating I can use if I want to seal it. I haven't decided yet.

I am switching to automotive paint, such as Dupli-color,
or Createx for my next project. Both in color and clear.
It will depend on what the desired effect will be and how
easy it is to mix colors. I am from the "old school" of
mixing my own colors and shades from the primary colors.
Some paints are not as true as others and will give a muddy
effect. You don't want that! I will let you know what I
come up with. I'm used to oil or acrylic on canvas though
I have done more than my share of lettering signs on anything
from glass windows to side panels on trucks. That is not a
challenge. What you and I are getting into, is.

Please keep me posted on how you are doing. :)
