While like most I ride for the pure pleasure of the experience, a side
benefit is finding one of those special and unique shops along the way.
The Bergman Store in guess where, Bergman Alberta is one of those
shops. And on this day, enjoying a tasty ice cream cone on a hot spring
afternoon, made for a near perfect ride.

300 miles, wonderful weather, terrific friends topped off with an ice
cream cone, well it just doesn't get much better.

Tiger is my staple, but experimenting with new taste experiences is
always a good idea.

Don, you and sleazy have it good. Here in New Mexico, it seems all the
good, traditional ice cream parlors are drying up. It seems people are
into thrift with a tub of ice cream and a case of beer or soda from
Wall-Mart.

Nothing beats the traditional ice cream parlours. That place we stopped
at last weekend was not really one of them. The ice cream was good and
it made for a cool photo op, but it was national branded ice cream. A
few years ago over in the AR forum we talked at some length about how to
rate ice cream parlours. it was an interesting and somewhat unusual
discussion and we agreed points would be deducted if the shop served
branded ice cream.

Given a little more time I am going to set up a web site to identify and
plot to a map, the truly magnificent ice cream parlours. Of course I
will need some help from my riding friends to seek them out. Any
volunteers?

I'm sure Wall Drug sells ice cream. Does that count?

If it's the Walls brand, stay far, far away. Utter shite with the
consistency and taste of chalk (at least it was 34 years ago when
I last had it).

Wall Drug has nothing to do with Wall's Ice Cream. Wall Drug is the largest (and quite possibly the sole) successful commercial operation in the tiny town of Wall, South Dakota. It's worth a visit if only to see the epitome of small-town U.S. tourist traps. See:

Having been to Wall Drug many times, I am well aware it is located in
the state immediately to the west of my home state, and has nothing
whatsoever to do with Unilever or the UK or any brand of ice cream...
but I think you knew that, as well.

They should change the spelling of the town name to "Burgman", and have
everyone ride the Suzuki maxi-scooters.

One of the "waste" products from corn (maize) processing is used as a
filler/stabilizer in cheap ice cream.
