Nice, but this is the old Brit classic bike that I am holding out for:

http://www.realclassic.co.uk/panther030331.html

Beside, "Panther" sounds so much more ferocious than "Douglas!"

Oh sure everyone EXPECTS a panther to be ferocious<sic> nobody expects
ol' Dougie boy to kick everybodies ass...until it's all over but the
crying and new found respect for good ol' reliable Doug. ;^)

I hope to visit Blighty some day and see some of these
"old crocks" (as Albrecht put it).

Here's the LDMC's gallery on their club site:

http://www.douglasmcc.co.uk/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=32&catid=1

This one is especially interesting as it shows the Royal Warrant.
That means the King of England himself bought one!

http://www.douglasmcc.co.uk/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=32&page=view&catid=1&PageNo=2&key=14&hit=1

In 1930 the king was George V, a regal monarch very much on his
royal dignity. It would be funny seeing him perched on a motorcycle.

Um, no, not necessarily. Other senior members of the royal family, like
princes etc, also have one.

Prince Charles has one, so does Prince Philip and I'm pretty sure the
Queen Mum had one.

Does it bollocks.
All it means is that some particular royal household bought one -
possibly just to let the bootboy run into town for more shoe polish.

Devastator? Ferocious.
Douglas? Not.

Uh, yeah. Douglas DID design and build the Devastator...a flying

I was simplifying things; the OP is American after all.
The warrant explicitly says:

MOTORCYCLE

This does not mean that the royal in question actually uses the product
personally. In this case the king could well have bought half a dozen
bikes for use by household messengers etc. Handing out a royal warrant
is just a good way of getting a big discount.

ICBW, but aren't our present princes Harry & William the only ones ever
to have shown a proper interest in bikes? Good on 'em, say I.

Depends on who you count as a royal. IIRC the Earl of Snowdon was keen
on bikes. I'm sure I remember a report of him doing a lap of the TT
course.

Sort of. Harry rides a 650 Daytona, IIRC. I mean who would even
bother with one of the smaller engined Triumphs, eh?

My by fucking ghods! Then again I find anything bigger than 999cc an
excuse for people with little dicks to make them look big. For me the
sweet spot is a 500cc 2-4cyl 2smoke (fuck you AGW beliievers) or a
600cc 4choke (4 to 8 cyl)

But then again I also think extraneous chrome and an exhaust that is
louder than 98db is proof those persons are compensating for a little
willy/small boobs or a shitty personality.

Before you ask, yes I've ridden both ends of that road. 8^) From my
lamented Jawa Trail 90 a pissant LS650 (the Jawa was faster) a shite
old T-500 (RD eater) my GL1000 and the wifes Ninjette (suprisingly
comfortable for a 1,300mi 24 hour trip) various other rides begged,
borrowed and such from friends etc. Sadly I can't bear to ride
anothers bike anymore...just can't.

How would you know?

I suppose you could always book a spot in the chair when I decide to
get mine back on the road and we could take it for a whizz along a
couple of country lanes and see how high the chair lifts before it
flips right over. Burnt has always been quite good at that sort of
stunt so if you're feeling a bit worried go out in his first.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Wicked Uncle Nigel

swiller to think your bait better. IF you aren't smart enough to
understand what was said...that's a free clue you aren't smart enough
to troll the subject. Is that clear enough little boy? Now go away
kid, the grown ups are talking.

<sheesh> I'd forgot that GB has it's share of dumb fuckers like you
and swiller.
