Have a Laparoscopy? If so and uncomplicated you'll be fit as a fiddle
in no time. That gas it gives you at first sort of sucks though :-)
I had to have that done and mine and did have complications in the
procedure. The gall bladder is like a little reservoir that stores
bile from the liver. It's like a balloon. It probably got infected due
to gall stones. They made 2 small incisions and used a fiber optic
camera.
Uncomplicated they merely puncture it and it deflates like a balloon.
Once deflated they remove it through the small incisions and redo your
plumbing. You'll never miss it.
In my case when they started to pull it out it broke into several
pieces and it took them 6 hours to clean up the mess. I would have
gone home in a day or two but because of the risk of infection
(because the bladder broke up) I had to stay there and do antibiotics
for a week.
But truthfully it was like a vacation as I had little to no pain and
my stay was more precautionary than anything else.
Be sure to check with your surgeon as to when he says it's OK to go
100%, but I'd guess 4 weeks at the most.
