Somebody settle this long running argument, please.
Is it true that HA frowns (nice way to put that, eh?) on Red & White
paint jobs on Big Twins?
Local bike painter told a lady friend of mine that he wouldn't paint her
bike red & white. She is pissed. I told her that nobody I know would
either.

Strange they should do that. A 60s model, I think the 64 FLH was red and
white.
Well, YOU do know what those colors signify, right?

Only if it's got a Deaths Head painted on it...
Seriously, I've never heard of any problem that the HAMC have with a Red &
White paint job. And I've seen plenty of Bikes With Red & White Paint Jobs
on them (in fact I think Harley sells one from their "color shop" list for
the "Retro" look). And I personally know a lot of guys in the Club. *I've*
never heard a thing about it.
But put a Deaths Head (HAMC Logo) on yer bike and you're in DEEP SHIT.
Or the words "Hells Angels" anywhere on your bike...or body...unless it's on
a sticker a club member gave you.
I know of a guy (one of my sisters former boyfriends) that was foolish
enough to have "Hells Angels Forever" tatooed on the back of his right
shoulder. BIG mistake on his part. Bigger mistake was to show it off and to
brag about it. I won't go into the small details but let's just say it's not
there anymore. It was "removed".
And whoever removed it didn't do it with a LASER either.
Can you say "40 grit Sanding Block"?
BIG MISTAKE on his part. I can't remember who the people were that removed
it for him...if it really happened at all. You know, it's one of those
things you just hear about. I just "heard" about it from my Sis's ex. He
wasn't the brightest bulb in the pack to start with. Oh, and to add to
"unfortunate" road rash accident, after the tat was removed, whoever removed
it gave him another Tat to replace the one he had removed. Completely across
his back, from shoulder to shoulder, he has a tat that reads (in red ink) "I
AM A PUNK ASS BITCH". And it wasn't a very professional job either. Kind'a
like someone did it "free hand", or like he was moving when it was being
applied. You should never move around when getting a tat. It makes for a
real messy line. Okay, maybe "moving" isn't the right word. How about
"Struggling"?
He won't make that mistake again. EVER.
And I only tell this tale as food for thought for *anyone* thinking about
putting something on their bike or body that shouldn't be there. Big
mistake.

"Local" is where for you? I'm not sure if the AOA would take offense to a
Red & White bike, like say in Florida or someplace like that but as far as I
know the HAMC don't have a problem with it.
I'll double check just to be sure. If I hear different, I'll post it. If you
don't hear back from me on it, it's okay with the people I'll be checking
with.
But considering that a Two Tone Red & White paint job was one of Harley's
*factory* paint schemes (1965 Electra-Glide?)....I kind'a doubt there's any
problem with it.

I don't suppose that guy drove a primer gray classic pickup with a hot
engine in it and teaches martial arts does he? Sounds like an awfully
familiar story..... Not that I have any personal knowledge of this
individual mind you.... nooooo sir. Just rumors, guys talking, you hear
things you know.....

I've never heard that. But if the painter won't do it, tell her to go to
another one.
If she really wants it those colors, why should the painter care? It's her
bike, just make her swear never to tell who did it, unless it's a bad paint
job. <sfsf>

Also the deaths head mentioned by someone else... I wouldn't put a skull or
Jolly Roger on my bike if you paid me a million dollars to do that, but that's
because it's ugly. But skull figures are fairly common decorations on Harleys.
Are all of those "skull" bikes Hell's Angel bikes?
